marcus williams had some of the worst scores ive ever seen at the combo so im not surprised he fell out of the lottery, but this seems kinda ridiculous... cleveland could really use a PG, i bet he doesnt slip past them... NJ seems likely since kidd is aging and williams has NY cred... 6/28/2006 9:48:46 PM |

Quote : | "Reggie Williams (born March 5, 1964 in Baltimore, Maryland, USA) is a former professional basketball player. A 6'7" guard/forward from Georgetown University, Williams was selected with the fourth pick overall of the 1987 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers. He spent ten seasons (1987–1997) in the league, playing for the Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs, Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers, and New Jersey Nets. He retired with career totals of 7,508 points and 2,393 rebounds. Williams's nickname during his playing days was "Silk"." |
I know wikipedia isnt the most factual source in the world, but here it says he went 4th overall... someone is dead wrong here.
Ive heard of williams, i remember him as a Nugget... i do not recall him dying on the court though and know nothing about where he was drafted.

okay i see the problem here.
Reggie Lewis went #22 in the '87 draft.
Reggie Williams went #4 in the '87 draft.
Lewis died during a practice following the Hornets-Celts series in '93.
I remember Lewis collapsed during game 2(?) and johnny newman (i think) had to keep guarding him because of the illegal defense rules.
when he tried to start playing again that offseason he died.

Quote : | "20. NY - Renaldo Balkman, F: The Knicks draft who? Renaldo Balkman, a 6-6 forward who in three seasons at South Carolina never averaged double digits? Well, he was MVP of the NIT, which is pretty much the New York Knicks. The ESPN guys are apoplectic, even Jay Bilas, who rarely rips anyone, is about to pop his head off. … Bilas and Stephan A. are saying he might be Dennis Rodman, but please. Balkman’s rebounding numbers the last three years are as follows: 4.6, 4.8 and 6.3 a game. Unless he has a lot of tattoos, a drinking problem and a habit to land ridiculously hot women, I can’t see where Rodman fits in. … The most bizarre thing is Isiah Thomas is already a lame duck coach and executive and he takes a guy who doesn’t look capable of helping right away? It’s Thomas’ career he is gambling with. " |

Bennerman is going to the knicks. They don't need a guard and the pick doesnt make sense that high in the draft, so he is a lock for NY.

you didnt like newman?
17 ppg, 47% FG in '91
15 ppg, 48% FG in '92
12 ppg, 53% FG in '93
and we traded him in '94... so only 3.5 seasons in charlotte and he was pretty solid really....
sure you werent thinking of one of our other busts like Kendall Gill or JR Reid? 6/28/2006 10:36:20 PM |
