hey, i never said i had a solution.

all i said is that it is wrong to disallow all muslims from flying after you and your neo-con brother said you wouldn't mind it if no muslim could fly.

and then both of you ganged up on me for saying it would be wrong to do so.

and now you are asking me for solutions?

i don't have a solution, but your solution is stalinistic and no one in the gov would even entertain it for a second.

hey, you got to pick a side, ok? you can't say you are anti-taliban and anti-saddam, and then start spouting bullshit like them. your (and typical neo-con) defense of "but look at what they do, they cut off heads and blow themselves up blah blah blah" doesn't fly. just because they do that, doesn't mean you can go around barring muslims from flying. YOU still have to follow the rules. otherwise there is no difference between you and them.

i think christianity is a good thing, over all. i also think islam and most other religions are good things. they're not for me. but they have brought happiness and peace to many people. sure there have been many bad things done in the name of many ideas, religions included. that doesn't mean that the ideas (or the religions in this case) are to blame.

the new testament, which is what christianity's foundation is, is a very peaceful and positive text.

lets not forget Revelations, part of the reason that state was created in 1948...and then its off to the races with "an eye for an eye"

a skinny little dothead once said "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind"...but whatever

maybe you facists really should destroy each other, by the time that happens, India and China will be waking from their centuries old paralysis to reclaim their status...that's it, that's the conspiracy

This is the part that is running into a lot of hurdles. I don't know why, but the idea doesn't seem to gain any traction.

any party claiming to represent his ideas the most

resembles them the least

also, i don't think you're far off in your predictions at all. just the "conspiracy" part.

for one thing "eye for an eye" isn't in the new testament. i'm also not a christian, nor do i feel i need to defend every word of the bible. the general tenants of the new testament are positive. "love thy neighbor", forgiveness, etc. and yeah, jesus does sound a lot like a commie, i don't think there's much wrong with that personally.

From Exodus...

24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
25 Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe."

You basically said the NT is bunnies and flowers, and it isn't. There's a few nice, happy words in there -- but you obviously haven't read it, or read it critically.

ok. mcfaggot, you're jaded about christianity and all, i get it. i can understand that to an extent. but i think (and i'm pretty sure i'm pretty right in this) that jesus' teachings in the new testament were overall peaceful and positive. if you want to refute me with that, go ahead, refute away. don't just spout insults without anything to back it up.

Yes, Jesus' teachings are actually pretty good. Not all of them are happiness and peace though, that's for sure -- and what about the part of the NT that you seem to have ignored or not know about, Paul's Epistles?

You don't know shit.

i don't claim to be an expert.

so paul's epistles makes christianity awful?

please explain to me what makes them so bad.

Typically I'd tell you to do your own homework, since you were the one claiming the NT was, as a whole, a positive text when you clearly haven't read it.

However, I made a thread about a topic like this a while back -- here's the link: /message_topic.aspx?topic=412249

In fact Paul was discussed in that thread and it answers your questions. (the thou-shalts, the discussions of "Priests" etc all stem back to the original priest of christianity, Paul. I guess it's not explicit but it's clear to anybody with marginally functional understanding of Christianity).

However, why read and learn. You've already displayed that you're happy to just jabber along about shit you haven't read/don't know.

It's a discussion of Christianity as influenced by Paul, the original Christian asshole priest. There's plenty of talk about what the priesthood has done to that ideology.

Why am I wasting my time typing these words to you when I know they'll bounce off of your thick skull?

The letters take probably an afternoon to read. Why don't you do yourself a favor and educate yourself on the shit you're talking about.

For the NT record...

Matthew 5:38-39

Quote :
"Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. "
