lets face it. The majority of you fail to see that 'freedom' and 'democracy' isn't for everyone. Yes, freedom should be for everyone. But in some countries and cultures...too much freedom will destroy it.

uh...its too late for that. If you end the war in Iraq now it will be far worse. The damage is already done and the mistake has already been made. Now its time to pay the price.
I am in no means for stopping the war. I was against the War before it started but now that the government that was in place has been toppled. If the us pulls out now it will turn into another talaban and the wrong people will resume power. And then its back to the drawing board.

Quote : | "For starters, $1.2 trillion would pay for an unprecedented public health campaign — a doubling of cancer research funding, treatment for every American whose diabetes or heart disease is now going unmanaged and a global immunization campaign to save millions of children’s lives.
Combined, the cost of running those programs for a decade wouldn’t use up even half our money pot. So we could then turn to poverty and education, starting with universal preschool for every 3- and 4-year-old child across the country. The city of New Orleans could also receive a huge increase in reconstruction funds.
The final big chunk of the money could go to national security. The recommendations of the 9/11 Commission that have not been put in place — better baggage and cargo screening, stronger measures against nuclear proliferation — could be enacted. Financing for the war in Afghanistan could be increased to beat back the Taliban’s recent gains, and a peacekeeping force could put a stop to the genocide in Darfur.
All that would be one way to spend $1.2 trillion. Here would be another:
The war in Iraq.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - At least 14 people were killed and 31 wounded in a series of car bombings in Baghdad on Thursday, the third day in a surge in insurgent violence in the Iraqi capital.
Three car bombs detonated in quick succession in a vegetable market in the predominantly Sunni neighborhood of Dora in southern Baghdad. At least seven people died and 20 were wounded, a police officer said. Another bomb exploded in central Baghdad at rush hour, killing four people and wounding 11, two other police officers said. A separate car bomb in eastern Baghdad killed at least three, police sources told Reuters." |

• NEW: U.S. investigates Karbala attack; attackers posed as U.S. military officials • Death toll rises to 75 in twin car bombings in Iraqi capital; 160 wounded • Chopper crash, attacks make Saturday one of deadliest days for U.S. troops
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- At least 75 people were killed and 160 wounded Monday in a pair of nearly simultaneous car bombings in central Baghdad, an Iraqi Interior Ministry official said.
"Body parts everywhere, many bodies charred; it was horrible," the official said.
The midday bombings in al-Sharqi district targeted civilians in a second-hand market, the site of several earlier attacks. (Watch ambulances rush to help bombing victims Video)
The explosions left vendors' DVDs and compact discs scattered on the street as black smoke rose into the sky, The Associated Press reported.
Separately, mortar rounds fell on an elementary school in southern Baghdad's Abu Dhseir section, killing one woman and wounding eight children.

Ok, so I have sources from the far left. Please find a far right source that debunks the apparent "myth" (created by the left) that the conditions in Iraq are worse now than before.
Since you seem to be blind, here are the numbers which don't have any bias

How can you compare Iraq when Saddam was in power, to post-Saddam Iraq, if you don't present any pieces of information dealing with Iraq when Saddam was in power? 1/22/2007 11:51:01 AM |

Even though we all agree there is no statute of limitations on murder, much less genocide, which we all know Saddam was guilty of, how far back are you willing to look to see what it was like "before" - when Saddam was in power?
Yes, he killed a lot of people in the early 80s, and we did nothing, except sell him more weapons. He killed a lot of people in the early 90s, after we encouraged them to stand up to him with the promise of our help, which never arrived then after which we did nothing.
As far as I've heard, since then he's "calmed down" a bit. Now again, that's no excuse for what he's done in the past, but it was apparent that he wasn't actively killing scores of citizens a day before the invasion. He might have ruled with an iron fist, but it was a fist that seemed to scare people enough so that they didn't fight and kill each other. Things weren't peachy in Iraq 5 years ago, as Michael Moore would like to imply, but they certainly weren't as bad as they are now, where something like 500,000 citizens are leaving the country every year - the largest migration in the area since Israel was formed. The false sense of urgency Bush created for invasion, and an ill-conceived and poorly thought out plan have created more instability and danger than Saddam had in many years. 1/22/2007 11:55:30 AM |

It isn't up to me to provide both sides of a debate. What is the point in that? I just asked you, go find sources of your own to argue the point, or get out of the section as you aren't doing anything here otherwise. 1/22/2007 11:57:31 AM |

Sure I read it, and Iraq is still worse. You're going to have to do better than this. So far, the consensus is Iraq is worse. You're apparently the only one that thinks it isn't.
Also, I'll point out again what agentlion said, that gas attack on the Kurds you are apparently using as your only argument to it being worse then than now, came about because of the good ole US of A...not because Saddam just felt like randomly gassing some people. 1/22/2007 12:22:48 PM |

The USA never told Saddam to gas his own people...I guess auto manufacturers are responsible for all the car crash deaths that happen involving their brand of vehicles?
The point is nobody seemed to be upset at all the tens and tens and tens of thousands of deaths in Iraq when Saddam was in power...but now people like to point out every death that happens...why didn't you give a fuck about Iraq when Saddam was in power? Why didn't you post news stories every day that showed how Saddam abused his people? About how he would have people executed for speaking out against him? Now all of a sudden some Iranian or Syrian insurgents kill some Iraqi citizens and you are hysterically upset? Because there weren't news stories every day, every week, or even monthly for that matter since the intarweb has been around you morAn. It was pointed out that he was quite tame in the years since sanctions started reigning him in.
