Quote : | "But the pissing was a result of the overcrowdedness of section 7. So people sneak their way into section 7, they close off section, people don't want to leave because they can't get back in, thus they stay at seats and piss. that is the series of events, so i restate my point that this is just a result of students that couldn't just sit in their assigned seats." |
Students knew they were cheating the system. They were abusing the policy. Personally, I think that some decision-maker down the line, who had to know that this system was being abused, should have made an example out of a large group of students. It definitely wouldn't stop people from abusing the system, but it would stop large groups of people, and especially large groups of drunks, from conglomerating in the best sections. You kick enough people out and however pissed they may be, they'll stop cheating the system. Especially when it's a bunch of rowdy drunks. The admin never really stepped up to this. However, all this moaning over the new policy is stupid considering how unabashed students were when it came to cheating the old policy.
Quote : | "we are just getting closer and closer to having no tailgate. this just cuts it down another hour, i'm sure the administration loves the idea." |
You bet they do. The East Coast is reporting our vomiting and urinating in the stands. Sure, the way the admin wouldn't let kids back into their seats is the direct cause of this, but I'll bet you there were very few sober kids vomiting and urinating in the stands.

so yeah... i wonder how they will make the stamps. if they use just normal Ink... most colors are gonna pose a bit of a problem.
i'm black. i'm not very dark skin but darkish colors on a dark background makes it VERY hard to tell what the color of the ink is. that being said... i'm CHOCOLATErvh... not dark chocolatervh. if you come across a shakazulu black brotha with a stamp on his hand. its gonna take a good 3 minutes to figure out what color it is. 9/29/2006 12:00:03 PM |

I feel like i'm the only one who likes this idea. It's a matter of dedication. The people who wanted the good sections went through the trouble to get in them somehow. And now those dedicated crazy fans will be in the good sections because they will do anything (like showing up early) to get good seats.
I've been waiting for general admission like this for a while... two thumbs up
also, they should do the same thing for bball
early people get courtside, later people get further and further up... two thumbs up
and if you really want to get the upper sections... show up right before kickoff... duh 9/29/2006 12:45:45 PM |

seriously. this needs to be fixed. award points for going to akron and app or make people wait in a 5 hour line to get tickets. that will weed some of the people that are just there to drink and socialize out already.
it seems like they could integreate tickets into our all campus cards. i know some schools do this. go to reynolds and have your card swipe during the week and a ticket put on it then just swipe your card to get into the game. swipers and the little metal gates that are usually at rides/subways that only let one person in per swipe at each section gate. 9/29/2006 1:00:36 PM |

I know some people in our group can't make it early. We signed up in a group so that we could sit together. Wasn't that the point of the groups? Now if we all don't make it to the stadium at the same time, then we might not be able to sit together.

It doesn't piss off the fans that want to get more drunk, it pisses off people that don't want to sit in the stadium with nothing to do for an hour. i'd rather hang out in the lot tossing football and eating a bit more food and on saturdays watch/listen to the other games that are on.
alcohol or not i don't feel like wasting an hour just sitting in the stadium. don't make this a dedicated fan vs. alcoholic type thing because that isn't the case.

DO YOU REALLY HAVE TO SIT IN SECTION 7???? IS IT THAT BIG OF A FUCKING DEAL TO SIT IN THE UPPER DECK OR END ZONE?
I like the new policy if it means more people will leave for the game early and i can tailgate up to the last couple minutes and just walk in.
Its a football game, no seats are THAT much better than the others.... this way if you really want a good seat you can have it. Just drink 4-5 beers before the tailgating hours begin and then another 6-8 during the 3 hours of tailgating and go wait in that horrendous line for an hour.
Or just be a normal person and realize that your specific seat/section isnt that important. 9/29/2006 4:10:12 PM |

there are a million ways to fix the problem without making another one; honestly, who the hell thinks this is a good idea? And all you people who keep saying "this is great, the diehard fans will wait in line", shut the fuck up. The whole point and tradition on game day is to be able to tailgate. They've now found a way to fuck everyone in the ass who wants to tailgate for a decent amount of time.

^ been mentioned by myself and others a bunch of times. apparently, it would require extra time to varify that the ticket is actually a 7 or 8 ticket and not forged???
I think thats crap. I think its crap that people are so desperate to sit in section 7 or 8. I hate section 7 and 8 right now. I wish those sections would just sink into the mud. the problem is just that people feel that section 7 and 8 are SIGNIFICANTLY better seats. so much better that they are willing to forge tickets to get in there, and then piss themselves while being in there. so fucking stupid. and i hope people that have sneck into section 7 and 8 aren't the ones bitching about this because it's their fault. if people would just sit in their sections with their blocks this isn't an issue. fucking morons and section 7.
I think that gate 11A should be for section 7 and 8 tickets. Let them waste their time in that line. If the person gets up their and the ticket isn't a real section 7 or 8 ticket, take down their name and ban them from getting student tickets forever. Leave the rest of us alone, and use the 10 gate. 9/29/2006 9:50:06 PM |

The scanners apparently display the name and section of the ticket scanned. The staff would then have to actually verify that both the section in the system and on the ticket match. This would take more time. It's hard enough for them to figure out how to scan the tickets so this would just add more problems.

Instead of tickets, they should distribute plastic bracelets with the barcode and ticket info printed on them at reynolds. that way you are already assigned a section, and you can't take the bracelet off once it is put on. Why cant we just claim our tickets online then go to reynolds and get a real ticket from an online voucher for an assigned seat, that would fix all this fucking bullshit; no overcrowding, no BS tickets, no ONE line for students.9/30/2006 1:11:42 AM |

There were 4 gates. 10 is divided into 10, 10A and 10B. Then we were using 11.
And unless the gates were on different sides of the stadium, 1 main line is the best. I helped athletics at gate 12 last year and several of the games people were backed around to where the ones at gate 10A were. From the 6-7 games that I was at the gate for, the main problem was 15-20minutes before kickoff. Everyone thought they should be able to wait until the last minute and then think they would get in before kickoff. It just isn't happening.
