Getting a BOC during a woot off is crazy hard. I have gotten three, all from random nights.

I hope they do the alternating groups of 500 BOCs like they did in the last woot off. I think that helped spread out the load a little and give more people a chance (although I still didn't get one).

Yeah they found it kept more people interested after the first boc went through. My thoughts are that it will pop up starting this afternoon and then not have another one until the summer. They usually do a BOC on their birthday, sometime June or July.

The elusive big prize is a 50 inch or more plasma tv. Usually people get the BOC because Woot puts some really funny things in them.

I got three in the past. Three returned phone, portable cd/mp3 players from target. A book on how not to work but show that you are, laptop/camera bags and some other random items. You win some and you lose some. I read that when woot first start doing this some guy got 30 user manuals for a satellite system, but no satellite dish.

I will say that out of all the other deal a day site who offer mystery bags, woot has always had the largest amount of good stuff.

My April Fools BOC was AWESOME

I got a super crane, a super monkey, a handheld texas holdem game and two american flag+eagle mouse pads. The crane looks kind of like this, but its yellow and blue and has a fake lego-man in the control area.

If anyone's thinking about getting that projector, I'll sell you mine(same model) with a practically new bulb for $300 flat. $350 if you want a 76 screen with it. Also includes free ceiling mount kit.

my BOC was some cheezy hat with hidden compartments, sony universal remote with like 5 buttons, and a dental floss holder/tool thing all in a pleather laptop bag. Overall pretty shitty, but come on, for 8 bucks you can't go wrong.

Does anyone know if I put that wireless Mimo adaptor on my 802.11G network if I'll see any increase in the distance I can be from the router? That would be determined by the router, correct?

I've yet to score a BOC. I've been on the ordering screen twice and hit submit order but it always says they are sold out.

Typically the BOC isn't until the second day of the Woot-Off. For about 3 Woot-Offs in a row it was popping up sometime around 11:30 am, but the last time it didn't show up until much later in the day.

I did score a "box of fun" from Stootsi.com once. $10 and I got a 512mb Rio Forge mp3 player with a 512mb SD card in it. Works perfectly and I actually prefer it over an iPod (which I later sold b/c it never got any use).

back to the woot-off....come on cheap roomba!

^^ Some wireless adapters have better reception than others. There is really no way to tell without ordering it and trying though. I guess you could search around and see if other people like the range.

The Cisco Aironet adapters with the small antenna were the bomb for reception. You can build an antenna to attach to your wireless access point which will solve most range problems.

Quote :
"
Boy, what’s more intuitive to use than a pen? Humans have been practicing penpersonship since our first Cro-Magnon ancestor impulsively swabbed an X on a rock with the bloody leg-stump of that day’s kill. Woodblock printing, moveable type, word processors and text-message keypads may come and go, but the pen remains king of writing tools.

That’s why we’re pretty geeked about Logitech’s Io pen—a clever gizmo that writes like a regular old ballpoint pen but then converts your handwriting into digital data. Here’s how it works: write notes, doodle diagrams or draw cartoons on the enclosed digital notebook or Post-it Note pad, just like you would with any other pen. The Io stores your every squiggle and scrawl, up to 40 pages at a time, until you stick it into its cradle and it all gets uploaded to your PC. The included software is designed to let your computer recognize natural handwriting, various geometrical forms, arrows, tables and the like.

Why let another dirty QWERTY key-board run interference between you and your documented ideas? Get immediate with the Io pen—it’s both lefty- and righty-compliant."

That's actually really cool

I would probably never use it though

I always wonder if the BOC during Woot off is predetermined or they just pop it in when they feel the servers are ready for it. There has never been any ryme or reason, but I would hope they want to reward those that actually keep checking.
