and as far as what mclennan did...it almost looks like playfair sent him out there to do that.

i went to a sabres/hurricanes game early in the season (buffalo might have still been undefeated, i'm not sure... but it was early) and the guy next to me (from buffalo) was the most obnoxious person i've ever seen at a sporting event.

and not like he was just really into his team, but being a complete dbag about everything to everyone around him. i guess that's how it's done in new york state.

then there's the matter of the obstruction standard going away again...the canes were second in the league this year with 447 opportunities. last year they were third in the league, but had 531 opportunities.

even with a boatload of 20-goal scorers, look at the total goals:

2005-06: 286 GF (3rd), 258 GA (20th)

2006-07: 241 GF (13th), 248 GA (19th)
