"Don't Tase Me Bro"

Shit was ridiculous.

Cliffnotes to what should of happened--

He should of been able to finish questioning.
Mic shouldn't of been cut off
Once he got loud
He should have been asked to leave.
Police should of escorted him out, without force.
People clapping should all be shot
People clapping started crying because their clapping made them look retarded once he got tazed.

HOlla

Yes. We need to learn to deal with people we don't like without bringing the hammer down.

OMF, the dude might have kept on talking for a bit after his time was up. So what?

If he was not following their rules and was repeatedly asked to stop, then yeah, I think they have the right to throw him out. I think it was unnecessary, but it's not my forum or my decision.

The kid obviously had no intention of stopping or leaving when asked, using force to make him leave was necesarry. The cops at first looked like they showed a lot of restraint, they weren't hurting him, just trying to get him out.

However, with the pile of cops on him, there was no reason to take him down/cuff him/taser him. He could have been taken outside where he wasn't disrupting the event and the cops then could have made the decision to arrest him or let him go. I don't think he did anything illegal.

^4 That's a pretty fucking skewed view on things. Have you seen the video where you actually get to listen to what he's saying for minutes BEFORE they ask him to stop? He broke the rules, he is a tool, he should have complied when they asked him to leave, and especially when the officers asked him to leave.

Like you can hear what the officers are saying, most of the time they were talking in normal speaking voices while that cockpump was yelling and screaming, you wouldn't have been able to tell what they were telling him to do but they asked him to comply many times before it got serious.

He was just practicing some hardcore passive resistance, being loud obnoxious and jerking/shoving around just enough to not comply without outright brawling with the officers.

Asshat got what he deserved.

Ok Honestly........HERE IS WHAT WE ALL WANTED TO SEE.

We want to see the worst. We want to put ourselves in his shoes and feel sorry, feel abused.

Fuck all that....he messed up, but he should of been tazed.

Everything was taken too far.

The cops were doing what was necessary before the tazing....but that kid is a fucking moron.

he deserves the chair

I just saw a story about this on the news - there were protests on the UF campus today - the national attention will hopefully take tazers away from some of these ass-hole cops

Really silly how some people are defending the kid's assholery, and the other side is defending the cops trying to throw him out.

BOTH SIDES in this thread are missing the point.

The point here is about the use of the taser gun. The other issues are minor and not as important.

Was the use of the taser justified? That's what both sides here (terp/emce, vs. tree/eye) should be debating. Regarding his right to stand there beyond his allotted time, cops trying to escort him out, etc, I don't know. But regarding the tasering, that was completely wrong:

Quote :
"Capt. Jeff Holcomb of the UPD said there would be an investigation into whether the officers used force appropriately, adding that employing a Taser gun would only be justified in a case where there was a threat of physical harm to officers."

WAS THERE A THREAT OF PHYSICAL HARM TO OFFICERS? AND SO, WAS THE TASER JUSTIFIED?

I say no.

Debate that. Restart the thread.

^ Well I read all the posts and found some users saying the tasering was justified. So first we all gotta agree on the tasering, and then we can debate the issues of his right/freedom to stand there, etc.

Well some think one or more of the following:

A) Hippies always deserve to get owned.
B) Watching people get hit by a taser is funny.
C) The police are always right.

maybe they shouldve let the guy filibuster for 3 hours without using any physical force on him...that way the tens of thousands of dollars the University spent on a high profiler speaker like Kerry wouldve been wasted by this asshat who thought he was so important

I have been tasered before by a friend and it isnt as bad as the kid made it out to be. I would much rather be tasered than hit with a baton or beat down. I think he deserved to have his ass beat.

For fuck's sake, if the kid had calmed the fuck down he could've left in peace. But he lost it when the police were about to escort him out, which btw was requested by the student group holding the event. The police crossed the line at tasing him though.

http://www.miamiherald.com/466/story/241219.html

I love all these people criticizing Kerry. The kid was yelling so much I doubt the police would've heard a word Kerry said.

Because that's obviously what would have happened, lawl!!1

But yes, I encourage avoiding force even when it's costly.

i encourage avoiding force as well

i also dont consider an arm on your arms and a "lets go" to be using force

too bad the student chose to shove the cops and use force though

i mean seriously...how long does it take some people to learn that if you shove cops, its not going to turn out good for you!

i mean if you get pulled over by a cop while you're driving...you have the constitutional right to tell him to go fuck himself...thats not breaking the law...its just completely fucking retarded and only an arrogant idiot would do it

gosh anarchy would be great though wouldnt it? i wish i had to watch my back from murderers every second of the day...that would be awesome though cause i could say whatever i wanted!!

instead of worrying about the cops and the govt, we'd only have to worry about gangs and warlords!!

And why wouldn't I have? Do you typically let people grab you by the arm and force you to go somewhere you don't wish to go?

ps: your swords, etc arent gonna be too helpful in an anarchic society when somebody just puts a bullet in your head since theres no order or rule

let's get back on track people

recap:

kid asks legitimate questions(well, maybe not the skull and bones question), which he prefaced with some information and went over on time, big fucking deal.

some cop grabs him to try to take him way, for no reason.

kid gets defensive, understandable.

kid gets led away, still for no apparent reason other than being loud and going over on time. OH NOES

kid begins to resist, stupid thing to do, even though his removal is complete bullshit

kid gets wrestled to the ground, 5 cops on him, he's cuffed. then he's tasered...

the tasering looks like bullshit to me

It hasn't worked yet. Perhaps we'll always have masters. But the future remains open.

Either way, not grabbing this guy wouldn't have led to foul-smelling anarchist punks overrunning the streets of all major US cities.
