This thread will probably eventually be longer than the "what song are you listening to right now" thread.

[Edited on August 25, 2009 at 11:49 PM. Reason : you cant "buy" a lawyer i dont think]

yeah, when I need to.

[Edited on August 25, 2009 at 11:49 PM. Reason : well, you can retain a lawyer. that's kind of like "buying" him.]

[Edited on August 25, 2009 at 11:49 PM. Reason : somewhere in between "hiring" and "buying", i guess]

man

I understand how you feel

but you should just try to keep it steady at around 6-8 over the posted speed limit

if you think about it, it doesn't really gain you that much more time to speed

unless it's 25 or more over the speed limit

but it's just easier to not have to deal with the coppers imo

nah, i'll just drive without being enslaved by some stupid, arbitrary number.

it isn't usually even about getting there any faster, anyway. it's about using my own damned judgement and driving how I want.

Sometimes you just gotta blow it out. I love mad apex-strafing and hearing my cheap-ass tires sing through turns and such.

And my heel-toe downshifts are gettin' to be MONEY.

Adrenaline is my drug of choice. I side with theDuke866 on this one. If only I had more disposable attorney-fee money...and no 130 mph speed limiter on my car.

I for one think that some of us who love to drive fast and can do so with good judgment are a hell of a lot safer to be around than nine tenths of the scrotard drivers on the road.

Even at 130 miles per hour. When my damned computer tells the engine to shut down.

so do you think those 9 out of 10 know they are shitty drivers?

just so i'm not being obtuse, what i'm saying here is that you are probably one of the nine

I was with you until you said "even at 130 miles per hour."
Especially since your previous post mentioned the cheap ass tires you have.
Now if you said 20 MPH over I might agree.

^^ there are occasions where 130 mph is fine, although these occasions are the exception rather than the rule.

got pulled over again today

didn't have the registration sticker on my license plate (they didn't affix it at the DMV...I noticed about a week ago, but I was waiting until I got a chance to wash the car so I'd have a clean surface to apply it to).

So this cop pulls me over and shes like "sure is a problem, you're with AARP but you dont have their insurance" So I punched her out, then I stole her gun and threw her bike in the back of my truck and drove off.

got 2 tickets a couple of days ago for expired registration and "unsafe tires".

My car had a nail in the tire that I hadn't had a chance to plug yet, and I didn't feel like dealing with the cold weather suit on the motorcycle, so I drove my truck to work...figured I ought to drive it some more, anyway, as I'd only driven it once or twice in the last, ohhh, 4+ months.

Well, apparently during that period, the registration expired and I never noticed. The rear tires needed to be replaced, but were nowhere near "unsafe". Whatever, they're just fix-it tickets. I went ahead and replaced all the tires on the truck, and will have to wait until MLK weekend to get the registration renewed.

^^^ i don't know, i drive a lot and i almost always speed. i have a valentine one and keep my head on a swivel, but every now and then they get me. plus, most of this was when i lived out in WA for 13 months...i've never seen anything like that place. it was all just winding backroads out in the country, but it was absolutely CRAWLING with cops, and they'd do stuff like come over the crest of a hill and hit the instant-on, just on the chance that they'd catch a speeder.

^^ no, it was on 70.

got another ticket about a week ago for expired registration on my truck

it's been a bitch to get that all straightened out...had to get new tires, then it took 3 tries to get it to pass inspection (failed for a hole in the evap canister, then again for window tint)...then i went to try to renew the registration, only to find that there was a block on it due to $13 worth of vehicle tax (they still had me down for a Morehead City address, so it didn't get to me in New Bern). I paid that, but it takes 2 days for it to process and clear...and the day after I paid it (i.e., the day before I was going to get the registration renewed), I got another ticket for it. I even explained the situation to the cop, and he still wrote me a ticket...faggot.

It was a fix-it ticket, but (a) it gets reported to work, which causes me hassles there, and (b) it required to me to waste valuable time going downtown to have it dismissed.

why is he a faggot for doing his job, he doesnt care what your situation is. you go back in forth you say your ok with getting a ticket so you can do what you want, but then you call them names because they do their job, and give you a ticket when you know your shit aint right?

id understand if you had just the one vehicle but if you have another that you can drive that has all its shit straight then you deserved to get the ticket for driving a vehicle you know the expection/registration whatever was expired

In Duke's most recent situation, I agree it sucks he gave you the ticket, but it is a fix it and drop it situation, that they used to let slide, and when they did, no one would fix it. I got tons of warnings about my tint, but until they actually made me go get it inspected at the dmv, I just kept it on and got "generous" inspections done. While it sucks that the system is so fuckered up, it is the way it is, and him doing what he did was for a reason. I hope it didn't affect you at work too bad though at all- I think that is crap that a traffic violation like that is something that you have to report (now if you beat some dudes ass in a bar, that I could see)

haha from last march that is

Got one for 77 in a 55 down in GA the other day. Speed limit had been 65 and 70; I hadn't noticed that it dropped to 55 (and for no reason that I could discern). That's the first time I'd been pulled in a long time (although 6.5 months of that time was spent deployed).

Hopefully a lawyer can get me a non-moving violation. if not, I'll at least get it reduced, and just had another ticket fall off my record, so it'll pretty much be a wash.

No, I get why they write tickets for that stuff. That's not what bothers me. I was irritated because I was in the process of getting it fixed, and was basically waiting a few days on the red tape. I was pissed that he wrote the ticket after I explained all that to him and that there was nothing I could do for another day or two.

Quote :

yes, it did affect me at work. I ended up getting blackballed from finishing up my mission commander qualification, after getting about 90% done with it, which would have major negative consequences for my career if I intended to stay in. The reason given was a perception that I am overly aggressive/prone to taking risks/playing "fast & loose" with the rules, and that the majority of that was due to my reputation with cars/motorcycles.

Not only are you supposed to self-report stuff like that, if it happens on base or anywhere in Craven/Carteret county, it automatically gets reported (I don't report traffic violations outside of those places, although you're supposed to...and then they suspend your on-base driving privilege if it's 15-over or more...don't ask me how you're supposed to drive to work then). It's a really big fucking deal, for whatever reason.

At any rate, it's one of the big reasons that I'm getting out. Not only speeding tickets--just the general intrusion into my personal life away from work (at a ridiculous and unnecessary level).

*my squadron is much more limp-wristed, lame, and nerdy than most...I would have probably been just fine professionally (though still frustrated by some of the intrusion) in most other squadrons. At any rate, the badass old days in the military are loooong gone. With no truly threatening foe out there, we collectively have stopped focusing on being warriors and preparing for combat and gotten really, really immersed in making sure your dental exam is current, and filling out plenty of equal-opportunity surveys, and wearing obscene amounts of retro-reflective safety gear, and not getting speeding tickets, and having all sorts of restrictions on distances/conditions/places you can drive, etc.

...but that's another subject for another thread.
