The ACC is down, we have more experience, we have the best matchups at most positions, and we have a pretty damn good game coach. It's going to be a good year.

the big point is that davidson played a pretty shitty game....they had some big scorers, but their FG % was terrible, they weren't taking enough time on offense for the most part, and just showed poor shot selection in general (save for a few nice cuts and screens here and there)

How would you be surprised it is sold out in bobcats arena? Hell UNC has a HUGGGE unc alumni base. Davidson is right down the road. Charlotte is less than 2 hours from Chapel Hill. I could go on and on. As a state fan in Charlotte you will be more of the red headed step child but there are more growing. Right now it is a LOTTTTT of UNC, Ohio State, West Virginia, UNCW, etc. Just wait until the acc tournament I think they will want to start having it there..holds around 21,000 and is the center point for all. So many hotels and things to do. I can't wait because I am going the whole weekend!

Davidson missed about 10 points in easy layups in the second half, and that's probably a low estimate, so they would've easily won the game if they could make layups.

I was impressed with Davidson. They have Top 25 talent. No shame in playing them close.. I really hope we can beat them when we play but it is no gimme, that's for sure.

I thought UNC struggled on the offensive end outside of Hansbrough and Ellington but their defense was exceptional... Right now UCLA is a definitively better team IMO but that could change as the season goes on, of course.

I don't know why people are surprised. You don't lose a lotto pick starter, 2nd round pick wingman and set shooter, gain nothing and go up a level of greatness.

Imagine those three guys being hurt or suspended one game last season and you have this years team.

Theres no problem with them being #1 because all the other proven teams had the same thing happen but preseason rankings should be taken with a grain of salt anyway because they are all about the past. Things will work themselves out.

That said, Ellington was impressive today and if he can play like that unc will be fine. He's key. Also, I still will never understand how thomas gets minutes. Especially over Frasor. Hell, Lawson only plays like 20 minper game. I know he was in foul trouble today but thats just how it goes. If lawson was out there longer and thomas was eliminated unc would be instantly better.

The student section and the old alum need to bring it for our game against Davidson once we take care of South Carolina State. We've got 7 games to correct whatever is going wrong with our guys before we head to UNC to start ACC play. This is the stretch that will be most important to improving our play, especially against quality competition like Davidson, Cincinnati, and Seton Hall. Bottom line is we can't give up on this team. A lot of people didn't think we'd do much in the ACC Tournament last year, and look what happened. One thing I've learned about State athletics is that once you are about to give up they will come out and surprise you and give you a reason to believe that they can still have a good season. Sometimes it works out, and a fair amount of time it doesn't.
