According to Tucker Max, not all gay men take it up the ass:
Quote : | "They explained that there are two types of gay guys: Tops and Bottoms. Tops are the ones that like to do the fucking, the pitchers, if you will, and the bottoms are the ones that like to get fucked, the catchers. Most gay guys have a preference, but can go either way, though there are a certain percentage that are only one way or the other. So if two Strict Bottoms go home together, then no one gets fucked, though there is still the oral sex option." |
Granted Tucker probably isn't an expert on gay culture, but he's probably had more contact (aha!) with them than you. As in some.
And why the fixation on sex anyway? The way you talk it's like there's nothing else to relationships.11/28/2007 11:26:05 PM |

Haha, I think Ron Paul supporters have been pretty succesful at skewing CNN's scorecard polls and MSNBC's candidate matrix. It's pretty obvious when you look at the number breakdown on CNN's scorecard poll that large numbers of people likely selected Ron Paul for all categories, from "winning the debate" to "most dissapointing." Poorly written voting script and even more pooly written polling software?
Does it make me a sad excuse for a socialist if I have to admit I wouldn't mind Huckabee as president?

and i didn't see the part where the audience booed the gay retired Brigadier General. I don't know anything about the guy--he may be a total dirtbag (i know of Generals that I really don't care for at all, including a couple that any reasonable person would describe as a "dirtbag"), but that is by FAR the exception. Regardless, if they booed a retired General simply for being gay, that makes me even more ashamed to identify with the GOP. My party has completely deserted me.
and I agree with the "don't ask, don't tell" policy.
that's still fucked up.11/29/2007 4:32:33 AM |

skewed the polls? and you even claim that saying that people were voting against him (disappointed) and for him? makes no sense

When I had first looked at the scorecard, Ron Paul had more votes for "Most Dissapointing" than the other candidates had combined for "Winning the Debate." This is almost impossible unless a large portion of those voting Ron Paul as top in all the other categories also voted for him in the one negative category - probably by blindly dragging his icon into each of the boxes.
Now, several hours later, Ron Paul (a longshot by all accounts) has over 50% of the votes in almost all the positive categories. Were the other candidates supporters skewing the polls proportionally, you'd think the results would reflect their support base. In that case, Ron Paul would not have overwhelming majorities in most of the positive categories.
Take a look at the polls if you don't believe me:
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/debates/scorecard/youtube.debate.112807/results.html
Yes the poll numbers have been shifting out of the completely insane- ie. votes for Ron Paul as most dissapointing don't outnumber total positive votes for other candidates as they did at first. Still, the numbers suggest a TWW style poll-fuck. Surely someone who's been on TWW a decent amount of time has to know the effectiveness of asking a message board or blog group to help skew a poll...

Of course it's skewed towards RP. He controls the political part of the internet, and it's a poll in which people can vote more than once easily.
That said, though, given the results of phone texting polls from past debates, he'd still probably be getting around 30% for most of the positive categories even without the skew. He was generally leading the post-debate text polls with 25-35% in past debates, and those didn't allow a person to vote more than once from the same phone. 11/29/2007 5:32:33 AM |

Yeah I understand why he's able to skew it, he's the republican party's howard dean in terms of internet mobilization- I just hate that supposedly real news agencies even bother reporting these never-accurate informal polls.
Sure it's neat to see nearly immediate feedback, but the information on these online and text election polls is so almost always so inaccurate that it is a disservice to even report them. They're not quite as bad as wolf-webber improvised statistics, but they're about as useful. 11/29/2007 5:44:55 AM |

Ahah. Keith Kerr on the news this morning. Haven't looked at this thread yet but apparently he's Hillary's bitch.
http://tinyurl.com/2nbyck Quote : | "[Update: Keith Kerr was known to CNN as a gay activist as far back as December 2003, when he was featured in this CNN article.]
CNN, as part of its Republican debate with YouTube, failed to mention that retired general Keith Kerr, who announced he was gay after his retirement from the Army, is a member of Hillary Clinton’s "LGBT Americans For Hillary Steering Committee." Not only did General Kerr ask the question via a YouTube video, but he was also present in the audience, and got to ask the candidates for a "straight answer" (pardon the pun).
General Kerr’s, whose question came 47 minutes into the 9 pm Eastern hour the debate, is also part of the Servicemembers’ Legal Defense Network's advisory council, an organization "dedicated to ending discrimination against and harassment of military personnel affected by 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' and related forms of intolerance"" |

Yes, but these people aren't running for the president of the Republicans, they are running for the president of the United States. These are not the key tenets of their party's platform, but they are certainly much more pressing issues to Americans the the freaking confederate flag. I hope they will at least be brought up in the general debates. 11/29/2007 11:57:42 AM |
DrSteveChaos All American 2187 Posts user info edit post |
Well, right now they're running for "Republican candidate," not "President." Yes, I understand the end goal is the latter, but that's not who they're answering to at the moment - they're answering to likely Republican voters. Hence, the questions.
Although I agree, the Confederate flag one was just stupid. 11/29/2007 12:01:47 PM |

Haha, I don't think Huckabee has a chance, I just like him.
Here's some numbers for you - from the kind of poll where:
1) People aren't taking the poll because they decided to click to it. 2) People can't vote twice.
http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5ijcW7MdxiGn2N_vwEIc4pklQPBaA - Ron Paul is not even listed among the top 4 (Iowa)
http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/11/27/florida.gop.poll/?iref=hpmostpop - Ron Paul is at 5 percent in Florida
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/2007/11/clemson_university_palmetto_po.php - Ron paul at 6 percent in SC
The only polls he does well in are those that are not providing anything resembling random or structured sampling or those where you can easily vote as many times as you'd like. Sure he's got room to move up and money does help, but it doesn't scoop you off the bottom that fast. When the only polls he's doing even halfway decent in are introduced with so many qualifiers that the news agencies reporting them are basically saying they're meaningless - of course I doubt them.
Don't get me wrong though, he deserves to be higher than he is. But just because something should be and you believe in it super-hard doesn't mean it's true. For instance, I'm not sure where you're getting your money info from but:
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/money/gop.html
Taking in more than McCain in the last couple months doesn't change the fact that McCain still has 4 times the cash he doesn't change the fact that Giuliani and Romney both have about twice what he has on hand, have been able to spend more than he's taken in in his entire campaign in the last to months alone, and also took more money in in those two months than Paul has received in his entire campaign as well.

I'm not saying Paul supporter haven't mobbed internet polls, but you can't spam cash.
Also, McCain is broke, not to mention he hasn't raised nearly the cash Paul has this quarter. 11/29/2007 12:56:14 PM |
Charybdisjim All American 5486 Posts user info edit post |
I'm not saying he doesn't have room to go. McCain is broke and lost credibility, Romney is a douche, Giuliani isn't exactly the Republican poster-child, and Huckabee isn't really the scariest political mastermind the world has ever seen. You should note that those figures seem to suggest that McCain earning "nowhere near" Paul this quarter looks to be within 10-15%. If you have more recent figures post away though.
As it stands now he's not doing well though. Despite making good amounts of money, he's still not able to compete with either the war chests or recent spending of most of those above him. Heck, Thompson's earned more money than him in the most recent 2 months and he doesn't have a chance.

Romney is a fucking snake in the grass, even by politician standards.
Giuliani...he rubs me the wrong way on a lot of stuff. The only thing I like about him is that Ifeel like he'd run the country more like a CEO than some of the others.
Huckabee is a good dude with good intentions. I don't agree with a number of his stances, either, though. Still, while he's pretty open with his religion, I'm 100% cool with the way he goes about it. Ever see when he went on Bill Maher's show? Even Maher pretty much had to hand it to him, and he hates religion more than about anyone except maybe George Carlin. Also, part of it is because other people continually make it an issue because of his background as a Baptist minister...it's not just him throwing it out there at every opportunity.
McCain, I'm a big fan of...I feel we've lost a little of the "old skool" McCain we all knew and loved, though.11/30/2007 2:45:40 AM |
