if you find a boat w/o a trailer and want to put it on one, i have a steel trailer long enough for a 16-18' flat bottom that i'll probably be switching out for a galvanized trailer this summer. the tongue can easily be shortened to fit anywhere from 18-10'. spare, lights, no title. $200 and it's yours.just throwing it out there if you're interested.

Towing the boat down Saturday and my first offshore trip of the year will be Sunday. Wish me luck!

A little nervous....we've done a shakedown in a local lake, but you can't really simulate a 40 mile drive in it...

just went to Boaters World. The most notable thing on their sale is the Berkley Gulp lures. They have them buy 2 get 2 free with a limit of 10 packs. I got 8 packs of Gulp and a roll of leader line for $36

no doubt, I guess I'd have to have them frozen or kept on ice all week and cook em as soon as I get home sunday

cause I'll be gone til the 4th

little too long for just ice, isn't it? if we have to freeze them we usually salt the fillets a little and fill the freezer bag with water. i'll let you know if we get into them heavy enough.

[Edited on April 24, 2008 at 3:55 PM. Reason : also, sorry but my granny gets all my flatties...she loves em ]

1972 ouachita aluminum skiff w/ a mariner 30 hp pull start....we roll in style

she's not much, but she's unbelievably stable and perfect for shallow water. i usually launch in the creek i'm fishing and don't leave that creek anyway.

sometimes Pops will let me borrow his 17' hydrasport CC w/ a 90 johnson ocean pro

yeah, I figured once the chopper blues came in, the kings wouldn't be too hard behind. Might have to hit up the pier tomorrow or this weekend while I'm down there if I get bored

ha, I hope you get better gas mileage in your dodge than I do mine.

^^The Gulp! Alive buckets sell for more on eBay than most stores. That stuff stinks like hell-be careful if you have a carpeted boat.

^the vast majority of speckled trout, flounder, and red drum fishermen would disagree with you.

less short strikes and harder hits, in my experience

i like to put the shrimp ones about 30" under a poppin cork

nah, just the bag gulps are on sale, not the buckets

ended up with 2 x 2in mini shrimp, 4 x 3in shrimp, 2 x 4in swimming minnows, and a few pogies 4 and 6in ones (cigar minnow)

^someone posted a link for a $5 rebate on those the other day.

off topic-Don't think there are any in NC but Zebra Mussels have been found in a couple lakes within 2 hours of my house in CO. The link below has some crazy pics-it's a pdf so I can't post them.

^yeah, i got that too

^^that sucks. i wouldn't expect them to be buy two get two, but wish they'd cut the price a little.

i called and the sale ends sunday, so i'm gonna go sunday when i get back to raleigh and stock up. if they have any deals on smaller spinning reels i might pick up one or two of them also.

water was too damn clear in north creek today. a lot of hits, but too soft to hang. i think the clean water had them finicky.

did have a 3' gar hit the poppin cork and get his snout tangle in the leader. that was exciting. backwater barracuda....

made trip up to Weldon. It was a parking lot out on the water, but the fish were biting fairly well. Went through ~150 minnows and got our limit of 8 fish. (4 fishing)

Too bad season ends Wednesday, and fishing supposedly gets better in may.

fuck the crowd and don't drive as far...come catch them in goldsboro. hardly anyone even knows they come up here heavy enough to target.

get some crickets and catch some bream for bait. stop at EZ Bait and get some live eels too. jumbo minnows do pretty good too.

and our season is through May 31st.
