Novamerican Steel Inc. (Novamerican), through its 21 operating units, offers a wide range of innovative steel service solutions. Novamerican is a leader in the processing and distribution of carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum products, and also operates as an intermediary between primary metal producers and manufacturers. In November, 2007, Symmetry Holdings Inc. (Symmetry), a New York based company formed to acquire and operate one or more businesses, acquired all of the outstanding shares of Novamerican. Subsequent to the acquisition, Symmetry changed its name to Novamerican Steel Inc. Novamerican shares are traded on the NASDAQ exchange under the symbol “TONS.”

Novamerican’s management is focused upon operating its business pursuant to its operating methodology, known as The Decalogue™. The Decalogue™ drives strategic, financial and operating decisions. The Decalogue™, co-developed by Domenico Lepore, Novamerican’s President, combines and deploys two management theories: the Theory of Constraints (TOC) [developed by Dr. Eliyahu Goldratt] and W. RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful individual will:
¨Develop strong relationships with clients at all management levels including design, procurement and senior management
¨Lead technical Sales presentations, and assist in negotiations
¨Offer Design, implementation, and configuration best practices to partners, using our proprietary “irrefutable offer methodology”
¨Monitor industry trends, and/or assist the Product Development/ Marketing team where required
¨Respond to RFQs, RFIs, and RFPs - creating proposed solutions with application drawings and related technical materials for presentation to prospective client organizations
¨Communicate technical solutions to internal provisioning team for implementation
¨Be the key decision maker in terms of working with (and knowing when to deploy) technical subject matter experts from change management and process engineering in the development of solution proposals
¨Take an active role in the development and implementation of the business/account strategic plans with sales team
¨Build customer relationships at the appropriate levels as defined by account strategies
¨Be an integral member of the business and technical solution from the conceptual through detailed phase of sales opportunities
¨Develop strong working relationships with Engineering, Marketing, and Solutions Architects as required designing customer solutions

MMMmmm... This is going to be an item of contention for a good while it seems.

No call backs on anything besides a job that was posted by a recruiter (and that was just the recruiter, not the company).

Not many jobs out there right now either (unless I want to move somewhere far far away, and even then I'm less competitive in those markets cause I have my EIT in NC).

i interviewed and made it down to the final 2 just before christmas for a lateral move with a different company with better pay and benefits. haven't heard back if they've made a decision, i don't have high hopes though.

Yeah... Seems everybody's low on high hopes right now. I picked the wrong time to graduate as a structural engineer who wanted to work in commercial and residential construction. I decided that I'm super fucking happy that NCSU's Civil Engineering program gives you a broad educational base to pull from and that you aren't pigeonholed into one CE career path. Otherwise I'd be 100% up shit creek right now.

I just interviewed for a great position last week. But the interviewer was 35 minutes late, stopped to look at her watch twice and then said she had to leave because Obama was giving a speech on the economy. She also asked me if I lived in Wilmington right after I told her twice that I lived in Raleigh. I don't think I'll hear back from her.

Still applying, I've gone on a few interviews. It sucks because I have the essential experience, but I suck at interviews. They said it would take 2-3 weeks to hear from my last interview (last wednesday). I thought I did ok, but there wasn't one other girl in there besides the receptionist, and I just got the vibe that I didn't belong.
I have an interview tomorrow morning (I think)... The guy sent an e-mail apologizing that my resume was misplaced and asked me to come in at 9 on thursday. I replied to confirm the time and place, and he hasn't gotten back with me.
I guess I'll just show up.

No, I don't. But they were very polite and on the ball about everything leading up to the interview. I'm just laughing it off because it was so ridiculous. I gave up most of a day to have a lady tell me that she had to watch CNN. I pray that God has mercy on the poor soul who gets the job.

I had a bad interview experience a few months back. Half the people interviewing me thought I had come in for a different (more experienced) position. They were awfully rude, and I overheard one of them saying that I wasn't good enough. After I overheard them, no one came to see me. I waited 1.5 hours... no hr person, none of the other people who were scheduled to see me, ...

It didn't help that I had to skip work, rent a car, got a speeding ticket (in a school zone), all on my way to this interview.

I went to several interviews before I got my current engineering job

and one company strung me along for two months (and at our last meeting, took me out to lunch!) before telling me that they didn't want me

just stick with it, you'll eventually find a group of people that have enough sense to hire you

Last spring I did a bunch of interviews throughout the spring. Went to Charlotte, Florida, had some in Raleigh and I thought several of them went pretty well but kept getting turned down. Then had two more kinda late (end of April). One of em was with a company that I hadn't talked to since the fall career fair and apparently they thought I wanted a different type of position so hadn't called me but thought they would give me a shot for this opening. Anyways, interviewed with several people and have been there since the first day of June.

So in short, just keep at it and you'll catch a break eventually.

I'm looking for a maintenance reliability engineering job in northeast GA, but it's not going so well, I got an offer from lockheed martin, but thats too damn far away from where i want to be, and BASF is stringing me along at this point. Job search sites for engineering suck ass.

I don't know if I've mentioned it in here, but I'm looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer position in the Raleigh area. I'm willing to commute to a certain extent, but I don't want to relocate. I have about 3 years of experience and about ~3000+ hours of Pro/E experience.

Any leads/contacts/suggestions are definitely appreciated.

Not to be a wet blanket but I've found that our area is ungodly awful for employment right now compared to other states. It's bad everywhere, but once I put relocation on the table I had a lot more opportunities to apply to (I'm basically looking to move to anywhere on the eastern half of the united states plus texas). You've got experience though so I bet you'll find something sooner or later. Entry-level is impossible here right now.

don't overlook the positions because it says they want more experience. If you have the right stuff with less experience, most places will still look at you. It never hearts to just apply.

I've applied for many jobs requesting 5-10 years of experience even though I only have about 3. It can't hurt to try. I haven't gotten any call backs though.

And I realize I'm limiting myself by not being open to relocation, but I have a mortgage and I'm not about to sell my house in this market.

I have a friend at NASA-Goddard who says they are actively seeking/recruiting multiple young engineers with 1-3 years experience in the DC area. She does parts qualification/certification for the Hubble program, but there are other programs available too. I've been working close to 10 years now, so apparently I'm overqualified for this position, but this is worth looking into if you have a little work experience. She was materials science, but MEs and EEs are welcome to apply as well. Unfortunately I don't have any contact information for the positions, if you are interested, I can try to find out where to send a resume, but that's about it.
