What pisses me off is some of the people in here arguing for Burrell were the same people that said Howard winning the 2006 NL MVP over Pujols was legit.

Going to see Josh tomorrow night at the Sox Game. Row 1 in Right CF. My sister wants suggestions for a sign and I'm about the least clever person about this stuff. We both went to East Cary (my sister was on his "team") and I went to Athens with him.

Any suggestions?

Josh will get his ring in enough time, and however he wants to spend it is up to him.

We'll be in row 3, I will have a green sox shirt on and my sister will have a lame sign, sparring some creative explosion in the next five hours. LOOK FOR US!

(Btw someone want to photoshop hamilton onto the body of roy hobbs for me???)

Bitch, get real

Hamilton is having a good year. Mantle had a career that was better than all but a handful of players. And he did it from both sides of the plate. On one knee. And he never pussied out because of a little substance abuse problem.

n00b(not 2000 or earlier), get real

not feeding me is the worst.

mickey mantle had a substance abuse problem his whole life. he was a straight away hitter and played on the 2 worst knees. but, instead of coming public like a bitch (see raleigh athlete), he had a hall of fame career and won multiple titles.

when hamilton makes a catch that saves a perfect game (in world series), we can compare. Or perhaps when he hits 500 home runs. Maybe when he wins a triple crown.

Josh Hamilton. Flash in the pan.

Uhh the homer he hit today was against arguably the best pitcher in the bigs this season, Justin Duchscherer who leds the majors with a 1.87 ERA. Well that was before today....

If he wins the MVP, he should break it up into three parts and give two parts to Kinsler and Young. They're ALWAYS on base when he steps up to the plate.

thats random, retarded, and has very little to do with someones talent

there were 20+ other catches that saved a perfect game (in that same world series game)

You can't win the MVP if your team finishes 20 games out of first.

I don't know what that means, but Kinsler leads the league in runs and Young is 8th. So, yeah, they are always on base.

its good that you cant win it if you have a great season but your pitching sucks and you play in the Angels' division, but AND luckily you can shoot your ass up with roids like a bitch and win it 4 straight years

Ryan Howard's team didn't win his division or make the playoffs and that strikeout king won.

And the Rangers have actually been winning more, no way they finish 20 games out.

Some of you are just haters.

It's hard to understand your point because you write like a third-grader, so I guess. The award goes to the most valuable player. Bonds was the by far the best player in the league (maybe ever at that point) and the Giants won 90+ games in each of his MVP seasons.

If you're having an awesome year on a shitty team, you aren't very valuable.

i guess Ernie thinks Hamilton should be VALUABLE enough to make up for the Rangers' horrific pitching...brilliant logic

I'm not a Bonds apologist and I'm not getting into why he did what he did. I'm just saying that no one was hitting like he was during that span. Questioning his MVPs is stupid.

I never said I didn't think Hamilton was worthy. I said he wouldn't win. You have to understand how these things are awarded. Get your shit straight, TreeTwista.

so let me get this straight...even if you're jacked up on roids, as long as you help your team have a winning record you can get the MVP (and its stupid to even question it)...but if you're having a great season without roids, if your pitching sucks, you arent even in the MVP discussion (even after becoming the first AL player ever go get player of the month in April and May)

why dont you tell us the runaway AL favorite to win the award since you're 100% confident that Hamilton won't win it

[Edited on July 27, 2008 at 2:11 PM. Reason : who will win the MVP oh all knowing ernie]

Bonds wasn't even seriously scrutinized over roids until at least 2003.

I'm not using a crystal ball, and I'm not 100% confident he won't win it. You just have to keep this shit in perspective. 99% of the time the MVP goes to the best player on the best (or one of the best teams). Josh Hamilton is a good player on a shitty team. I'm not hating on the guy, I'm just calling it like I see it.

And...?

Well who are a couple candidates? Aside from A-Rod I can't think of anyone else...nobody on Boston is deserving...according to your own logic, Kinsler doesn't have a chance since his team is so bad...all the other standout players so far this year are in the NL...you seem to be adamant that he won't win...who exactly is gonna beat him out? Don't back down from your position now Ernie
