This thread is trash. You can have a handicapped child at any age, for many more reasons than just your age. So Sarah Palin has a few kids; it's cold in Alaska and how else do you expect them to keep warm besides bumping uglies.

I don't like to see any young girl get pregnant, but at least this girl isn't taking the easy way out and getting an abortion. She's going to face up to the consequences of her actions instead of having "something removed" like a common wart.

For better or worse this is CNN's top story now. And these use ireport quotes to say things they wont like:

"Alicia Summers of El Mirage, Arizona, agrees that the vice presidential candidate and her family deserve scrutiny. "Did Palin really think she could come into a race at the 23rd hour and not be subjected to questions?" she asked. iReport.com: See, share your thoughts on Sarah Palin

Summers, an Obama supporter, noted, "the press only has two months to find out info about you that they took years to get on everyone else."

She suggested that Palin drop out of the race out of respect for the privacy of her family."

&

"iReporter Kristine Phillips believes Gov. Sarah Palin should remove herself from the Republican ticket."

I don't think should remove herself, but its now a national discussion topic on whether she should stay on the ticket.

It's fun to watch the far far left wing media attack dogs get fresh meat.

It shows they have no interest in what their political leaders (Obama) have said about the matter and that they are willing to stoop to any low level and just plain lie to get attention.

In the words of a fellow poster "email me when the stoopid stops" b/c the news is getting plain boring.

Forget the energy crisis, b/c you know you'll lose that war in a heartbeat.

Does Obama realize what his media jackals are doing to the woman vote?

With every hateful comment the leftist media and blogots say about Palin, more working women with families-including left-wing women, will turn away from Obama.

I just found this out, but apparently Bristol, and none of the other kids, knew that she was going to be the VP pick before the Dayton rally. They thought they were going on vacation for something else.

I feel bad for the girl, not even knowing what was going to happen, and just being completely thrown into the national spotlight.

And let the women decide the women's vote, and it wont be for a freaking token.

Yeah, this is why they chose her. They knew about the daughter pregnant thing before they picked her as the VP. They knew what kind of spin the left would put on the story once it was "discovered". They went for the one of us, sympathy, look how good Christians don't judge, she doesn't support abortion, she's a she angle and it looks like that's all it will take land them another 4 years of Bush.

^^ Actually they were and it was for a lot more retarded stuff than getting knocked up. I remember the Clintons getting really pissed off how the media would harp on how their daughter looked busted with braces

The moral of the story: Democrat or Republican, the media will always look for the trashiest stories to put out there about you and your family.

BECAUSE she is an outspoken supporter of SOCIAL CONSERVATISM and FAMILY values; yet her own daughter got knocked up while under 18 and out of wedlock. What kind of example does this show to my future daughter if she is in an "abstinence only" sex-ed class that was formulated during the McCain/Palin administration. If her socially conservative policies are not effective in her own family how are they going to work for the country?? While not as bad as having an abortion; I don't understand how evangelicals are not upset about a woman running for VP whose daughter is guilty of the taboo of sex before marriage.

Even in the late 90's/00's when i was growing up if someone's daughter got knocked up she went to another high school and their family often withdrew from the social scene. The slutty daughter was a shame for the family to which they felt embarrassed. I guess nowadays we don't frown on knocked up underage unmarried daughters; instead we CELEBRATE choosing this person as a good candidate to represent our beliefs as VP of USA #1. Afterall at least we know she is "pro-life" . I am sure bible-thumpers would elect Charles Manson as long as he was pro-life.

If evangelicals can rally behind McCain now bc his VP choice exemplifies their values, specifically point out her daughter not having an abortion, than i should be able to berate her flawed "family values" position. Shit works both ways.

In an idealistic world it should matter if the VPs daughter is the local frat mattress at Yale or if the president is getting his pole polished in the oval office; as long as he is doing a good job running the country.

So let's say she'd been pro-choice, and had taught her family all about contraceptives and whatnot. Then let's say the daughter still got knocked up and still wanted to keep the baby.

Would you be saying:

^^ people would definitely be saying that, but Obama had the sense to not pick a VP with that kind of back story.

Also, there is lots of statistical evidence that shows higher teen pregnancy rates with abstinence-only education. Palin is merely the anecdotal figurehead of that statistic.

The liberal converse would merely be an anecdote with no other statistical basis for the claim proper education doesn't work.

kids / children have historically been off limits, see Cheney's daughter etc.

unless it's something very illegal you will get crucified for going after children typically

this is why Biden specifically said he wasn't even gonna address it.

Bullshit.

I don't think professional, liberal women are so overwhelmed with sympathy for Palin that they'd vote McCain.
Women aren't going to rush to the polls to hand over their reproductive rights to some old man.

If they do that, they might as well get their apron out of storage and skip the whole voting thing. Too much thinking!

I think that the girl's pregnancy should be (and is, in my mind) a non-issue with regard to her mother's ability to be VP and possibly Pres. I still think she's horribly under-qualified to hold the office and couldn't possibly have been the BEST Republican VP candidate. I mean... of the whole party? The Best? No way.

I am an Obama supporter and I see no point in going after Palin's daughter. Hell, my mom told me not to lie, steal, cheat, etc... and I've done all of them more than once in my life. That has no bearing on her as a parent or a politician (Palin, I mean ).

csharp... you are ridiculous. Obviously you are either very pro-McCain or very anti-Obama (or both) so everything you say is going to be spun to uphold your beliefs. But you do it in such a blatantly harsh and blind way, that most of what could potentially be valid arguements just come across as thoughtless soundoffs. Use some tact, and you might actually seem intelligent. Instead you just sound angry. Nothing more.

Just a thought--Maybe this girl doesn't hold the same views on reproductive rights/birth control as her mother. How many of you upheld your parent's political and moral views as a 17 year old?

Ponder for just a moment that she is one of the unlucky 2% to have a birth control method fail. Nothing is fool proof. With the plethora of information and availabilty of birth control we cannot automatically assume that she wasn't using any form of protection. To do so is just ignorant and I cannot believe the amount of enegy being wasted on disecting the sex life of a teenager. This is just a sideshow for the media so they don't have to cover "real" news. I'm so sick of puff journalism and morons that gobble it up.

Its only made a huge deal of because of Palin's stance that abstinence is the best form of birth control, so of course people assume that she would have taught this to her daughter, and therefore expect her daughter to follow her mother's advice. The fact is that she clearly didn't...regardless of if she used birth control or not....SHE HAD SEX, makes it fodder for the media to make a huge deal out of.

If she can't lead her family (ie make her daughter have the same beliefs she does and therefore keep her legs closed), how's she going to lead a country. amirite??

If he's a redneck, then he'd appreciate these two words: shotgun wedding.

Seriously though, Obama and Biden don't have to say anything because the media is having a feeding frenzy over this (not for partisan reasons but simply because scandals = ratings). Of course, I wonder if they're both cringing a little bit because the moment the sharks finish off Palin, they're going to look for more blood and may turn on them next. Then again, Obama and Biden have both been in the spotlight for a while now, so I suppose that if any scandal existed, its already in the open now.

Normally i would agree. However, the evangelists have used this as rationale to support Palin and thus increase their support for McCain. If our right wing conservative christian friends use the pregnancy to justify their support; why can't moderates/liberals/libertarians and any other person who thinks Palin is a shitty VP pick use it against the McCain ticket???

"Sarah Palin to unveil teen dad Levi Johnston at convention

THE teenager expecting a baby with the unmarried 17-year-old daughter of Sarah Palin is expected to be publicly unveiled at the Republican Party convention.

But Levi Johnston, 18, has created a further stir, describing himself on his MySpace page as a "redneck who likes to snowboard and ride dirt bikes".

The description appears in a profanity-laden entry posted by Johnston that was made private over the weekend, but not before several media outlets published parts of it.

Johnston, who is to marry Palin's pregnant daughter Bristol, is reportedly flying to the St Paul, Minnesota, convention after being outed by international media.

He played ice hockey at Bristol's high school and the Palin camp says the teenage couple will get married.

But in Johnston's MySpace entry, the teenager hints that fatherhood was not in his immediate plans.

Johnston says he is "in a relationship", but on the question about how he feels about children he said: "I don't want kids.'' He also says his true love is ice hockey.

Here's part of his entry before it was made private: 'I'm a f--kin' redneck who likes to snowboard and ride dirt bikes. But I live to play hockey. I like to go camping and hang out with the boys, do some fishing, shoot some s--t and just f--kin' chillin' I guess. Ya f--k with me I'll kick ass.'' "
