I've been getting confused researching about surgery,

what is the difference between general anesthesia and just being knocked out? I know anesthesia usually will stop your breathing but if i take a blow to the head or a sedative dart or something than I breathing wouldn't be an issue, so why not just mimic that?

general anesthesia usually involves paralysis of some sort to facilitate easier access to your body
also, sedatives can only do so much - you'd most likely wake up from the pain if you were just given sedatives

my toshiba laptop came with a program called "toshiba dvd player" which is supposed to allow me to watch dvd movies...everytime i open it i get "module(s) needed for this application are missing, if restarting the application does not fix the problem, please reinstall"...i guess my questions would be a) where is this program cause google isnt finding any downloadable links for it, b) what woulda caused that? i never even freaking use my computer to watch DVDs, and c) do you know of any freeware dvd players i could download? I cant use windows media player cause it gives me an error as well
