this is the worst football game I've seen in the past few years. The only one that is even worse is the Ravens-Giants superbowl game.

we all know it

but im going to go ahead and call it...

raiders drive and complete a long pass via blown coverage. they tie it up w/ 2 pt conv. OT, janikowski, pwnt.

what about the raiders/buccaneers SB? i dont even remember anything from that game, just that it was a blowout in TB's favor

^You've obviously not watched enough AFC West. They're all so bad that anything that resembles a successful play is grounds for celebration.

what the hell happened in this game? I didn't get to watch but damn how does Delhomme throw 4 picks and only complete 7 passes against a terrible Oakland defense? How?

Good thing they have such a baby schedule the rest of the year, except for the Giants...

I don't know how you consider playing the NY Giants, all of the NFC South teams, and a Denver and GB squad that will be fighting for a playoff spot as an easy schedule. It's a pretty rough schedule after the Detroit game considering four of those games are on the road.

NFC East combined record: 24-12
NFC South combined record: 23-13

All that matters is thier record in games outside their division

I'm not looking it up, but pretty sure the East is several games better

NFC East non-divisional record: 18-6
NFC South non-divisional record: 17-7

why does everybody act like the NFC East is leaps and bounds better than any other division?

Their record outside their division isn't going to be any better because every division is going to add up to .500 for games within that division...

Well I guess the records don't show it

But I think NYG are better than anyone in the south

I think the Cowboys with Romo are better than anyone in the South

And I think the Redskins and Eagles are on par with TB and Carolina

and I think New Orleans and Atlanta are worse than everyone in the East

So basically, in my opinion

NYG
Dallas
Carolina/Washington
Tampa Bay/Philly
Atlanta
New Orleans

is how I would stack the 8 teams

we're talking about this year and not last year, right?

I don't disagree that the Giants are the best team in the conference but I don't know how you could watch the Cowboys with Romo and say they're the 2nd best team in the NFC this year. The records outside the division are only 1 game different, and if you're going to say the Cowboys with Romo are better than the whole South, you have to say the Saints when healthy (Bush, etc) are better than they are right now

I just think the East gets the most hype because the Giants are defending champs and the Cowboys had all their preseason hype, and the Redskins are playing better than people thought...but so are Carolina, Tampa, and Atlanta, who many experts picked to win 3-4 games this year. I think the South and East are very comparable

They get the most hype because they're in the biggest markets in the country and a divisional game is on primetime TV almost every single week

Just look at the matchups so far

Philly beat Atlanta

Dallas (without Romo) beat Tampa Bay

Washington beat New Orleans

So the East is 3-0 vs the South this year

and I would expect NYG to make it a clean sweep with a win over the Panthers later this year

^^yeah i cant argue with the East v. South record, but I think ESPN wants you to think the NFC East is 10x better than the South whereas I still contend the South is just as strong...maybe if the Panthers had won convincingly yesterday it would be more believable

The Raider defense is often hurt by their shitty, shitty offense that allows the opponents good field positions. The raiders have some good players on their defense

Raiders = shitty run defense, good pass defense (although Jake made them look like the best pass defense ever)

as a sidenote, while watching our offense most of the day was painful, i really enjoyed the game overall...both defenses played well and it was close enough where oakland kept it interesting, but not so close where i had a heart attack

WHAT!?!?!? this is the hardest part of the schedule after the lions. We could easily be 8-2 and end the season 3-3 and finish 11-5.

speaking of which... just the other day, Collinsworth was talking about the South "sneaking" into the playoffs because the East teams will continue knocking each others' records down

like, seriously? sneaking?

I'm with you on this one, I don't think they're giving the South enough credit
