This is a defensive team that has gelled as of late keeping Oakland to 30 some pass yards and forcing Brees to a less productive game. This team is having a miracle season just like the Saints had 2 years ago and that is something that is scary. ATL will beat Car this weekend.

how exactly are the falcons any better now? 1st 4 games avg: 17 pts allowed, 22.5 scored...last 6 games: over 19 allowed, 23.5 scored. Looks pretty much the same to me

ANother guy had this same logic and I've already explained that Brees had inflated numbers because the Saints got that ass wooped by 14 points, Brees threw 58 times, and most of the yardage came in garbage time. Falcons did the best against Brees than almost anyone has all year.

even worse then...the falcons knew they were one dimensional and going to pass on virtually every down and still couldn't stop him from going over 400 yards....any coach will tell you that's when defenses can pin their ears back and rack up on sacks...they had 1 that whole game. Doesn't sound like a HOTT defense to me.

And since it seems we are talking about mainly the upcoming Car @ATL game, I'll speak a little more on it. I will admit, that in the 4 games I predict Carolina to lose (ATL, GB, TB, NYG), this is the one Im the least sure of. If this game was at Carolina, no doubt Car wins; but in ATL, where ATL has lost one game at home only to Denver, this will be a very very tough matchup. You guys will not run on them like you think you will and you will not pass on them like you did back in the first game. If you have been paying attention at all to what the Falcons have been doing, you would agree with at least this statement. Offensively, the Falcons have become more consistent especially with the running game. Turner, in the beginning of the season, was hit or miss each week; now, he is getting good numbers each week. I'll also make this prediction tho, Atlanta won't beat Car with the run tho, Matt Ryan will, with a steady helping of Turner.

Stat projections: ATL- Ryan: 275 yds, 2 td, 1 int; Turner: 89 yds; White: 113 yds, 1 td
Car- Delhomme: 235 yds, 1 td, 2 int; Williams: 56 yds; Smith: 130 yds

Turner, if anyone, has been the beneficiary of schedule....go back and look at the numbers, there is a very strong correlation between bad defenses and 100 yard games for Turner. No team he's approached 100 yards on is even in the top half of the league in run D.
