i dont think you read my last post correctly. or maybe its confusing. i want to be stopped not moving forward. but i dont want my foot on the break. i need to figure out the balance on the gas etc to stay stationary without having to push the break.

It takes practice. Find a slight incline and practice.

I usually heel-toe the brake and the gas, but I've seen a lot of people new to sticks pull the handbrake to make sure you don't roll back. But you should be able to hold the car just by slipping the clutch(not that it's really good for it).

depending on the hill, well any hill really, you are gonna wear that clutch out faster.

yes you DO want your foot on the brake. I don't want my foot on the break either. If you aren't trying to move forward up a hill.... please don't use the clutch to hold you there.

Yes, it's quite simple to do let the clutch out just enough to keep you there but not move. But doing it is not good for the clutch.

yeah, it's easy and useful for when you're just stopping on an incline for a second like on a light that just changed and traffic hasn't started moving yet or something like that..but doing it for more than few seconds is equivalent to riding your brakes like f'in crazy. except changing a clutch costs a hell of a lot more than changing brake pads.

Three pedals for a reason... Don't try to make it easier by eliminating one. You will get used to it. Like many others have said GIVE IT TIME! trying to hold it w/o using the brakes is asking to roll into someone and/or finishing off that saturn clutch. No need for that.
