also, this is the first time a barista has given me shit over wanting a heavy latte. i've handed it back before asking for less foam and they always smile and do as i asked, because they understand that i'm paying $texas and i want it the way i want it.

this bitch was just having a bad day.

i can understand you want to get what you paid for

i'm saying it's not going to happen there, a 4.50 latte had better suck my dick or have 3-4 shots in it

i wasn't really bitching that i didn't get the perfect latte though. i was just remarking at how personally she took my request for a heavier latte, and how bent out of shape she got once she actually gave me what i wanted. my latte was as perfect as possible when i walked out that door. and that's because i spoke up and told her what i wanted.

i make my own lattes and they're far better than Starbucks. but i was running late and lazy this morning. so i settled. i don't mind settling every now and then.

I'm in Canada now -and in Canada Starbucks is only consumed by hipsters. If you get a chance, Tim Hortons is da bomb. Plus - you can order a Large and call it a large.

Better coffee
Better price
Zero "attitude"

thumper, i think if you are payin that much for a latte then yeah, it better be up to your standards...and if the little barista person gets annoyed, who cares. They don't get paid enough though probably.

Not Drinking Starbucks today But I'm drinking a Hazelnut Latte a la DH Hill. haha

today it's an Iced Venti Latte, to which i added my own sugar free raspberry syrup.

anyone interested in those double insulated Starbucks cups should jump on it NOW. the local stores just got their shipments yesterday and they always sell out super fast. then they go for more than $50/ea on Ebay (as much as $80 i've seen). i'm seriously tempted to buy 10 of them (@ $12.95) and sell them for $texas this Fall. hmm.

shocking huh?

actually though, if you make your own iced coffee/latte at home, these cups are fucking money. they are double insulated so they don't sweat. and duh, they say Starbucks.

from what i can tell, there's nothing else quite like it on the market. so i guess that's why people pay the premium.

thumper if you don't like foam on your latte ask for a no foam latte. You're already a raging lunatic in their eyes for all the other modifiers you have on your latte, no harm in throwing another one on there.

I am not a raging lunatic

My drink only has 3-4 words usually! That's pretty tame. I could make it worse

But yes, when I start drinking hot drinks again, I'll keep that in mind.

Trust me, when I worked at Starbucks we would snark incessantly over the people that would over the people that ordered "triple venti 2 equal mochas" or whatever. It was pretty rare someone like that didn't get some snark as soon as they were out the door

Probably the worst drink I remember from my time there was a woman who would order a "tall skim 8 sugar white mocha." Woman, you shouldn't be worrying about the fat in the milk, you should be worrying about the impending diabetes

and that's just great, now i wonder how often they talk about me

Yeah it was fucking disgusting. We'd have to stir the espresso into all the sugar and white chocolate like we were making cake batter or some shit before pouring the milk in There couldn't have been more than 5 ounces of milk in the drink with all the other shit in there.

And I wouldn't sweat them talking smack. Most baristas at Starbucks are just bitter that the best they can do with their communications degree is work at Starbucks It was usually more shit about the drink than the person, unless the person was a dick. And we had plenty of those.

I remember a woman throwing a literal hissy fit because she was convinced I didn't make her drink half-caf.

"BUT THE SHOTS CAME FROM THE SAME FUCKING DISPENSER."
"That's right ma'am, because I put half regular espresso and half decaf espresso in the head."
"BUT THAT'S NOT FUCKING HALF-CAF!!"

Yeah, I didn't mind it too much unless the person was all uppity about it. It's amazing how many people view their coffee order as some sort of status symbol.

Then again, the only shit I order at coffee shops is americanos or the occasional chai

We had a guy that would come in 3 times a day to order a venti heavy cream latte. I forget what that cost but by now I bet it's a $5 drink. $15/day on scalded heavy cream with espresso thrown into it

I guess there aren't a lot of "cup" style ones but there definitely are some:

$7 - http://www.amazon.com/Copco-Beverage-Travel-Butterfly-Daisy/dp/B000P9ZNPS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1272983347&sr=8-1

$10 - http://www.amazon.com/Aladdin-16-Ounce-Insulated-Tumbler-Purple/dp/B001Q3L9NW/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1272983347&sr=8-8

And then outside of that, any double walled thermos will perform the same function and there are a gazillion of those on the cheap in all different shapes and sizes. I guess if someone really, really wants one that looks like a cup instead of a thermos it limits their options to things like I just listed (and there are more, I just listed 2). But in all seriousness, no one should be paying more than $15 tops for something like that.

The absolute only thing I can think of for why they sell for so much is the brand factor and limited supply (since it sounds like Starbucks always "sells out" really easily) because other than that it is not really a unique product

Holy crap at the 8 sugar white mocha. Those things are too sweet as they are.

I felt like a troublemaker ordering Frappucinos no whip, affogato style. But it's been ages since I've had one and I don't really want to try them anymore.

my favorite drink is a medium skim cafe au lait (house coffee) with sugar free chocolate syrup and foam on top

but I never ask for it because I know it would piss the workers off... so I only made it for myself at the coffee shop

One morning we decided to make one for ourselves and kept daring each other to drink it. The guy that finally did was on a serious sugar/caffeine high rager for the rest of his shift until he crashed hard. It was pretty hilarious to watch though I don't think the customers were too amused by his antics

At Starbucks today, I had a long chat with the store manager. It came up that I used to work for Starbucks and he responded, "Aha! So THAT'S why you always order your drink in the correct order. We've wondered about that..."

Since I've been in school this semester and going to DH Hill ~twice a week, I can say I've yet to hear someone other than myself order a straight black coffee. I sometimes even detect the slightest of an eyebrow-raise when I tell them I don't need room for cream. WTF are all these kids swilling these days?

I also drink straight black. If the coffee is good it is delish. I'd say 80% of the time it is super dark or burned tasting. However, I went black and now I cannot go back.
