I've never thought Fox would bench Jake until now. Not that Fox wants to, but he's going to lose the entire team if he doesn't. Plus AZ is next week. We all remember what happened last time we played them...

I went today, almost saw some fights break out. I was stunned at the number of Bills fans there, and they loved showing their collective asses. I had no vested interest in the game being a Redskins fan, but it was more entertaining watching the Bills fans act like assholes than watching the game. 10/26/2009 12:01:19 AM |

Sounds like probably had an encounter with me yesterday. Us Bills fans may be assholes, but we are some loyal assholes. It was a tremendous showing of Buffalo fans yesterday.

The Bills are horrible and have been for quite some time now. Bills fans still show up in droves to away games to watch what is usually an ass kicking. Those very few times we actually win one on the road we definitely celebrate. So you can suck my Buffalo Bills loving dick. 10/26/2009 12:03:34 PM |

I was telling people, there's almost as many Bills fans as Steelers fans around here, you just never see them because they've sucked for 15 years

I have no such power. But looking at the other teams, how can it not be Carolina?
Saints: Sean Payton is arguably the best offensive mind in football Falcons: Mike Smith has turned around that whole franchise Bucs: Their coach is in his first year. Doubt he gets the boot 10/26/2009 12:26:12 PM |

The Bills fans made that game enjoyable for me....I'm not really a panthers fan(they've never done anything to reach out and grab me) so at some points I actually found myself wishing for good things for them. 10/26/2009 12:49:52 PM |

yesterday a similar article was mentioning the Bucs because they weren't going to give Raheem that long of a leash
Here is the article:
Apparently Raheem Morris won't be given a long leash as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. "Blowout Sunday" had more victims than Morris' Bucs
* Colts 42, Rams 6 * Jets 38, Raiders 0 * Pats 35, Bucs 7 * Packers 31, Browns 3 * Chargers 37, Chiefs 7 * Bengals 45, Bears 10
John Czarnecki of Fox Sports notes that Bill Cowher's name has been "popping up with the Bucs." Cowher is certainly one of the top coaching candidates available, and Czarnecki notes that the Bucs' ownership would be able to satisfy Cowher's presumptively high contract demands.
While it seems a little rash to talk about replacing a coach just seven games into his tenure, the Bucs are 0-7 in those seven games after a blowout loss to the New England Patriots in London on Sunday.
A month ago, Terry Bradshaw created a stir by claiming that Cowher was going to replace John Fox in Carolina. Seems like as the have-not's in the NFL keep struggling, names likes Cowher's will continue to be linked to them as replacement coaches.

well I know Gruden would love to coach Deangelo, he's got a hard-on for that guy
but I really dont see how Cowher would turn down the job if the panthers offered it to him. After hearing how he's been in Charlotte a lot doing charity work and how good of friends the Rooneys are with the Richardsons, I think the stars are aligning nicely. If he wants to come back to coaching, and Jerry Richardson isnt a complete idiot, he should be in Charlotte next season 10/26/2009 2:45:44 PM |

I think he might. it could be completely unrelated, but wouldnt the fact that his sons left the Panthers staff open the door up for Cowher to get a bigger role in the front office? 10/26/2009 2:50:08 PM |

uh cowher quit a team he had built in to a top 3 franchise to move to north carolina, we may not offer as much as tampa but our location should still give us the advantage 10/26/2009 3:04:44 PM |

Maybe I'm the only one, but I don't think hiring NFL Jesus as headcoach would fix the team right now. We will still have Delhomme throwing interceptions like it's his job, noone to take the double team away from Smitty, below average special teams and a defense that is bipolar as fuck.
You could maybe make the argument that special teams and defense could be fixed by Cowher, but we don't have a first round pick next year, so how the hell are we gonna fix the QB/WR issue by hiring a new coach? 10/26/2009 3:12:37 PM |

I would love to have any one of:
Cowher Shanahan Gruden Fisher (if fired by titans) Possibly even Holmgren (but I think he'd be better as only a GM)
At this point, it's time to start placing bets on which one of these guys will be the coach of the panthers in 2010
and ^^^is right, atleast two of those guys would fight to have coach and GM duties....I think Richardson is in just the right spot to give it to em too.
^our o-line and running game are stellar...all we need is a qb that won't lose games for us. Fox is just too damn stubborn to try anything else. The D has been much better in the past weeks, hell, buffalo might not have scored a single point had it not been for the turnovers.

IMO Gruden should be at the bottom of the list for this particular team
The reason I say that is because he runs the west coast and it would be a complete change in philosophy and personnel. We have a run blocking O line and two power backs so it would be nice to see a coach that wants to utilize what we have built on with the power run game that sets up play action down the field.
34 defense would be nice too 10/26/2009 3:24:12 PM |

this door would open if Marty Hurney got booted along with fox.
i can't wait until a new regime is in Carolina. what a difference a year makes. 2008 undefeated at home, sundays were amazing. 2009...sundays are painful inside BoA stadium
^I completely agree. Yes, Gruden won a superbowl...but he also won it his first season with a #1 defense built completely by tony dungy. Sure he retooled the offense, but they weren't a powerhouse. I just don't think he's this proven coaching success that everyone wants you to believe.

yea I agree getting rid of delhomme is a bigger priority than getting a new coach but right not fox seems relentless in his commitment to jake (blackmail perhaps?), at least a new coach would address the issue10/26/2009 3:31:21 PM |

and even if you don't get rid of the guy you hand him a clipboard and a headset and make it known that the QB job is no longer his. He's there for locker room leadership (lol) and mentorship while you bring in 1-2 new faces that have the youth and talent to become a franchise quarterback. Delhomme can ride out his final year and then bow out gracefully. 10/26/2009 3:34:02 PM |
