Magicka is pretty fun playing it with a controller.

Of the sales today, I recommend Torchlight, Tropico 3, and War for Cybertron

[Edited on July 3, 2011 at 3:26 PM. Reason : ^ How does that work? You need 8 buttons on the keyboard to play that game.]

You push the Right Analog up (north), down (south), right (east), or left (west), and you rotate one way or the other to choose the magic, thus you have a 8-way control. It works easy and is precise, and you use the d-pad for choose learned things like Haste or Naplam (for the Vietnam DLC) for example.

Tropico 3 is great. I love being El Presidente. One thing about the sales I love is, since I've gotten to college I've haven't found video games as fun as they used to be, but for some reason the sales always get my gaming bug going again.

Good, but you can get it for $10 at Best Buy and then activate it on Steam.

Steam's a pretty good deal, though.

I spent $20 on NV and the two expansions which are also 70% off. Plus there is no tax which is always good.

The game is good so far. It seems like they incorporated a lot of the popular user mods from FO3 which made the game so much better.

Crashed on me the first time I played it. Some guy just randomly came from behind me and started blasting his shotgun. I took him down and was all excited about the new weapon I had just picked up. I equip it, whip it out, and before I can fire a test shot.... crash

Picked up Torchlight. For those of you looking for a Diablo bug to itch, I'd suggest this. Only missing element is a multiplayer

^^ The story is sooo much better than Fallout 3's also. It feels much more like Fallout 1 and 2 (which is funny because Fallout 3 was basically just a mash up of plot elements and ideas ripped straight out of 1 and 2 and slapped together without worrying about them making sense).

That is one thing that I hate when I moved from PA to here, sales tax when I buy stuff online.

any necessary mods for new vegas? Something in the vein of 2009 Complete for Stalker, ups the graphics and all that.

yup, I've been there for Elder Scrolls and FO3. These games are far superior on the PC for this very reason.

Trying to play through once without gameplay mods, just visual ones.

So far,

New Vegas w/ dlc's
Need for Speed pack
AI War

Tempted on guild of wars trilogy, but I really don't need an epic MMO story line to follow atm. I'm pretty surprised that COD4 is still sold for $10 sale price, would have expected that game to drop down to like $5 or less considering its quite a few generations behind (although a great game nontheless and better than any of the recent COD crap).

Well, in general, its not as smooth of a game as I am used to. There is almost no introduction to anything. You are thrown into a story line with no back story to anything. Its as if they assume you played the first one and dont need any introduction.

The game doesnt teach the player anything about the game. I am immediately picking up crafting items, fighting with no idea how to do any of this. The menus are not intuitive and cluttered. Just a mess in general.

Apparently I am jail but then I am allowed to figure out how I got there by allowing me to play through the events that lead me to jail. But I can do them in any order without letting me know there is an order. So, if you have no idea what this game is about it throws you for a loop if you dont do things a certain way.

I must have become used to valve/bioware/others that always introduce things to you as you progress.

Now, I can get over all of that if there is something particularly awesome about the game. But the character looks funny, I die almost immediately in the first fights because I have no idea what to do other than click, and the general movement of everything on screen is a touch clunky.

Anyway.....just seems like it was sorta thrown together.

Yeah there's very little tutorial, the combat is tough and confusing at first for everyone because it's nothing like the original. The best tips I can give you is that it's about timing, and to use dodge more than block. Oh, and when you're allowed to spend your level up points on other trees besides the training tree, upgrade your Quen sign, it makes the combat much easier.

Alchemy isn't that tough once you get the hang of it, in fact it automatically selects the ingredients if you have them when you click the name of the potion.

The order that the flashbacks happen are exactly how you would expect. The one at the top comes first and it goes down from there. But you only have to play each one once, so you won't get in any sort of loop. You get out of the jail soon enough, that's just the first part of the game.

Oh and from what I can tell crafting items like wood aren't worth carrying around. The crafting you can do in this game isn't really that good and is about as expensive as just buying stuff, plus the stuff you find will be just as awesome anyway. For the few times you need these items you'll probably be able to find or buy enough.

I don't know if anyone has noticed the total lack of EA games on the Steam sale, but in case people haven't heard EA has permanently pulled all their games from the Steam marketplace to launch their own service.
