Thanks Wolfy. eleusis and thumper actually bought it for me two years ago and I forgot to read it, so I do own it. I finished it in one day on my cruise. I couldn't put the book down! I love books like that. Armstrong is such an inspiration.

However, I will probably read Alive. I watched the movie several years ago. Hard movie to watch, but I'd love to read the extra info that they couldn't fit into the movie.

Ugh, house-hunting and all the stuff associated with that has really cut into my reading time outside of work. oh well, it will be worth it. Think I'll read Red Seas Under Red Skies when I get some free time.

I have 20 books to read between my English classes this semester alone--and then even more novels in my other classes.

Managing two a week right now. I'll meet this challenge easily.

Sweet, someone is reading decent books.

And by book I mean book.

The Road is very much worthwhile.

Those Who Save Us, Jenna Blum

I read this yesterday. It's FANTASTIC. It switches between WWII in Weimar, POV: Anna, Aryan, making it through the war with a daughter, and 1997, POV: Anna's daughter, working on a project that combines the two time periods together right at the end.

Hoping to power through World War Z by the end of the week. I like it, but the change of narration every 8 pages makes it difficult to read for long periods of time. Probably going to read Catcher in the Rye or Ender's Game next.

If there is any fantasy in your list you should scratch it out and read something that wasnt written for someone 15 and younger.........The Prince of Nothing series by R. Scott Bakker. Just FYI, Bakker tried to go back in time to teach Tolkein/Pratchet/Jordan how to write fantasy, but they were too simple.

Screw Fantasy and read some Science Fiction. Everyone should be reading a copy of Dune. If you don't appreciate it for the character and story, the use and implementation of fictionalized ecology is unparalleled.

^^^^^You get a for not only reading Nicholas Sparks (I know you're a female but I still have to get my h8r in) but wanting to follow it up with Ayn Rand. I'd be okay with the Sparks if you just traded the Rand in at a used bookstore for something more... worth your time and criticism.

I found a cool reading challenge for 2010..it's only 20 books but may be something cool to work into the 52 book challenge

Quote :
"Rules:

* Read 2 books from each category, making a requirement of 20 books total.
* The categories are intended to be loose guidelines only, if you decide it fits, then it fits. (Apart from those marked **)
* Categories marked with ** have tighter rules, and these must be followed.
* Each book can only qualify for one category.
* Crossovers with other challenges are allowed.
* Books read from 01/01/2010 to 31/12/2010 are eligible.

So, on with the categories

1. Young Adult
Any book classified as young adult or featuring a teenage protagonist counts for this category.
2. T.B.R. **
Intended to help reduce the old T.B.R. pile. Books for this category must be already residents of your bookshelves as of 1/11/09.
3. Shiny & New
Bought a book NEW during 2010 from a bookstore, online, or a supermarket? Then it counts for this category. Second-hand books do not count for this one, but, for those on book-buying bans, books bought for you as gifts or won in a giveaway also count!
4. Bad Blogger’s ***
Books in this category, should be ones you’ve picked up purely on the recommendation of another blogger count for this category (any reviews you post should also link to the post that convinced you give the book ago).
*** Bad Bloggers: Is hosted by Chris of Stuff as Dreams are Made on.
5. Charity
Support your local charity shops with this category, by picking up books from one of their shops. Again, for those on book-buying bans, books bought for you as gifts also count, as long as they were bought from a charity shop.
6. New in 2010
This category is for those books newly published in 2010 (whether it be the first time it is has been released, or you had to wait for it to be published in your country, it counts for this one!)
7. Older Than You
Read two books that were published before you were born, whether that be the day before or 100 years prior!
8. Win! Win!
Have a couple of books you need to read for another challenge? Then this is the category to use, as long that is, you don’t break the rules of the other challenge by doing so!
9. Who Are You Again?
This one isn’t just for authors you’ve never read before, this is for those authors you have never even heard of before!
10. Up to You!
The requirements for this category are up to you! Want to challenge yourself to read some graphic novels? A genre outside your comfort zone? Something completely wild and wacky? Then this is the category to you. The only requirement is that you state it in your sign-up post.

ive remembered how i just cant read fiction, ive been stuck on pride and porejudice and zombies for weeks

its a great book

but fiction just bores me

really? I'm nearly the opposite

well I guess to be fair, non-fiction doesnt completely bore me depending on the subject as there are certain things that really interest me that I "research" which requires me to read non-fiction texts. But there are some people I know who seem like all they read are biographies and motivational books etc. and the majority of those bore me unless its someone I am really really interested in.

But give me a stack of good fiction and I'll keep my nose in the books until theyre done
