I think we take Friday (their pitcher sucks) and Sunday (never bet against Santana), and lose Saturday (because who are we kidding, Pelfrey can't keep this up forever) 4/29/2010 1:20:58 PM |

I hope so too, I'm just being realistic.
Pelfrey can't be this good every time, and Halladay is a beast. If we're going to lose one its that matchup.

That was... wow. It wasn't like the Yankees game last year where you could tell his elbow was hurt and his velocity was down. He was throwing HARDER today than all year long. Consistently 91 and 92 but couldn't locate worth a damn.
I guess he's human and that kind of thing will happen. Shows you how good he was in April, if you can give up 10 ER in three innings on May 2nd and still have a 4.5 ERA you must have pitched pretty well to that point.
Sucks it had to come against those pieces of shit. Oh well. On to Cincy. Still ahead of schedule for where my expectations were and rumor is that Beltran is starting running and will be back first week of June. 5/3/2010 9:11:57 AM |

Last night was the most dissapointed I've gotten watching a game all year because I was watching it with two Philly fans and talking shit from the first pitch. After walking Moyer and and imploding in the 4th, I tucked my tail between my legs and went home.
Lets see if Perez can redeem Santana and right the ship tonight
Yes, it felt incredibly strange to type that sentence. 5/3/2010 9:19:10 AM |

last night was just an example of why Philly is still the best team in the NL until somebody else wins the pennant...they might not have as good a record as St. Louis or San Diego (lol the Padres are good right now) but I say their lineup is as good as any in the majors
The Mets are still trying to come back from injuries over the past couple years...although I have no fucking clue why you guys thought Jason Bay was worth the money...sub .300 bat, slow white dude in outfield at a huge park 5/3/2010 8:17:06 PM |

Bay has been FANTASTIC in the field... better than I could have dreamed. His UZR last year was positive to, meaning he was a plus outfielder compared to the league.
David has been disappointing but he has started to pick it up. When Reyes gets back normal, the offense will be fine. 5/3/2010 9:48:58 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148441 Posts user info edit post |
i still think Bay had a great hitting year in Boston and then was overpaid
but i do agree the offense will come around...but with Beltran and Reyes not being 100% for a full season recently, its obviously gonna hurt your lineup, cause honestly when healthy, your lineup is right up there with Philly's...maybe not quite power wise, but depth wise
also gotta like Wright so far...average under .300 so far but he has already hit half as many homers in one month as he did all of last year...and while he has been striking out a good bit lately, his walks are at career high numbers
the Mets are still one of my favorite NL squads, ever since getting a Gary Carter baseball card in box of granola bars in like 86

Seems about right
Quote : | "“There are as many Mets fans as there are Yankees fans in Manhattan, but, overall, the Yankees have twice as many fans. Mets fans own more guns, are more likely to bet on games and follow their team more closely… On the other hand, Yankees fans tend to be more metrosexual, they drink more Starbucks coffee, they’re more likely to own a Mac than a PC, and tend to be single and skinnier. Mets fans drink far more beer… They also drink more in general… Mets fans monitor their team’s progress, and they listen to substantially more sports radio.”" |

Mets fans do seem to be more passionate about their team than Yankee fans. Yankee fans just expect the team to win and if they don't they quit caring until they are good again. Sort of like an NC State (mets) and UNC (yankees) argument. 5/7/2010 10:21:43 AM |

Without Beltran, this team reminds me of the 2005 team. Pretty much be within five games of .500 the whole year long, probably finish with 85 or so wins. I'm hoping a healthy Beltran can push them over the top.
Also, Wright is having a very strange year. On pace for 38 HR and 116 RBI, but with the lowest average of his life and, by far, the most K's in his life.
And fucking Jerry, please put Reyes back in the leadoff spot where he is comfortable.

great game for Wright, good day to have him on my fantasy team
he needs to keep this going, because if beltran returns to form and Wright can get hot, hello october
Wright's performance is now a more determining factor to the team's success than Reyes (but if Reyes was back in leadoff I think it would revert back) 5/12/2010 3:29:12 AM |

I have a great idea, why don't we sign a guy to a rediculous contract just after he completes a season with rediculous numbers that he will never ever ever accomplish again.
That's right, k-rod, I'm calling your bitch ass out.
The Mets are 2-4 against the Nats this season, wtf. We scored 8 runs in each of the wins. I guess that's what we have to do to beat such a great fucking team.

^^ Let's see if we can find other Mets examples:
1. Carlos Beltran 2. Mo Vaughan 3. Jason Bay
Granted Beltran hasn't played poorly with the Mets when he's been healthy, but he'll never put up the numbers the Mets hoped when they signed him. 5/13/2010 8:13:21 AM |
bdmazur ?? ????? ?? 14957 Posts user info edit post |
Carlos Beltran has been worth it IMO, and although Bay isn't living up to his contract right now I'm willing to give him time.
Vaugn...ugh...did you have to bring that sack of shit up?
Roberto Alomar is another name that comes to mind.
