So far both sets of fans have been pretty complimentary of each other except for this douche in the comments section of the ESPN article.

Wisconsin vs NC State? What a waste. Wisconsin will win by 20. I love thrashing ACC teams, but not lolacc teams. NC State is a laughing stock.

I guess every fan base has at least one douche bag.

You can bitch about us not being respected all you want, but the reality is that we haven't won more than 6 conference games in a season since 2005-2006 so we pretty much are the laughing stock of the ACC. Dude is just being realistic, they haven't missed the tourney since 98...at this point projecting us doing anything other than losing is fucking crazy.

Yeah but them winning by 20? I don't see that happening, not with the talent we will have this year.

We lost to Northwestern by 12 at home, losing to Wisconsin by 20 on the road is imminently possible...I certainly hope it doesn't happen but it easily could.

No one has gone over to the Wisconsin board and talked shit yet. Many of the posters have even said that they think Wisconsin will win.

If we played Wisconsin at home, then I'd be more optimistic, but on the road versus a good, well coached team in a very tough place to win with a young team. Yeah that is a bad formula and spells a double digit loss.

if it were later in the season i'd feel a lot better about it. but playing @wisconsin that early w/ such a young team, probably won't be favorable.

Yeah our OOC should be much better next year with Syracuse, Arizona (should be a much better team next year), Wisconsin, and possibly Georgetown in the CoC tourney. Obviously we'll be lucky to win either game at Syracuse or UW, but either way our RPI should be better.

Not to mention we might get ECU in the Charleston tourney and we all know the SEC is secretly interested in ECU.

If Sidney Lowe wins the Charleston Classic, does that make him the king of the preseason tournaments?

2007 Old Spice Classic Champions
2009 Glenn Wilkes Classic Champions
2010 Charleston Classic Champions

Hey we're winning championships, just not the kind that are important to anyone.

Nah but seriously if we beat Top 25 teams in Syracuse, Georgetown and Wisconsin early on in the season then we'll definitely be ranked and getting publicity/respect from the media. I'm tired of hearing those jackasses at ESPN diss us by saying shit like "can you name one player on NC State's roster?"

All signs point to VIOLATION. But the NCAA will just keep the investigation open indefinitely until everyone forgets about it. Just like the last blatant violation at a high-profile moneymaking school (see USC).

On gopack, it now lists Painter as #0. I wonder if that was done to give CJ #5.... or it could just be an error.

CJ wants to wear the 5 so thats probably the reason. i read somewhere that CJ and Painter might play 1-1 for the rights to the jersey number

"“One thing I will say, a lot of people looked at us as the underdog, but we didn't really feel that way. Playing in the ACC, our mentality was that anybody else from any other conference just wasn't really that good. If you take that same Houston team and put them in the ACC in the 1980s, they would have taken four or five losses. When you play against Ralph Sampson at Virginia, and James Worthy, Sam Perkins and Michael Jordan and players like that at Carolina, when you do that for two months in January and February, by March you have already been playing in that sort of tournament environment for a long time. Unless you are from the state of North Carolina, you don't realize that every single conference game in the ACC is like a Final Four game.”"

I think this still can be applied to today.

Front page of today's N&O.....

http://www.newsobserver.com/2010/06/12/528829/why-hoops-star-used-handicapped.html?storylink=misearch

Quote :
"Why hoops star used handicapped sticker

On May 28, Chris Meekins said, he watched Tracy Smith, N.C. State's 6-foot-8 basketball power forward, walk in front of his car about 11 a.m. That's the time Meekins usually waits in a small parking lot off Hillsborough Street to pick up his daughter, who is attending summer school at State.

Seeing Smith was exciting for Meekins, he said, because he bleeds Wolfpack red. Meekins received two degrees from State, and he has followed Wolfpack hoops since he was a child listening to the radio under the covers in 1974 when David Thompson led the team to the NCAA championship.

But Meekins said his celebrity sighting turned to shock when he saw Smith get into a car parked in a handicapped parking space.

"Where I was waiting I could clearly see that he had a handicapped parking pass hanging from the rear-view mirror of his new car," Meekins said. "I went from excited to 'Oh my gosh, what's he doing with a handicap sticker?'"...."

I hate the N&O. I hope they die soon. He said he was using someone else's car. You have no proof of anything other than this. STFU.

Also is anyone else surprised that Annabelle Myers commented? It would've been nice if they had responded completely and fully to this guy rather quickly though so the N&O wouldn't have gotten involved.

If he did it then fine, it was wrong. I'm not going to condemn him for something that we only have one dude's eye witness account of.

I am pissed that the N&O take their time to put out a whole story on this while never writing stories to bring a focus on the things that UNC-CH have done. Ellington's house anyone?

Lots of people with handicapped family members do this shit all the time. Smith probably didn't even think twice about it. I'm guessing he'll never do it again after this though

My first reaction was if Chris Meekins really bleeds Wolfpack red and white, why is he telling the fucking newspaper about this instead of keeping it under wraps.

I mean I bleed baby blue and white, but when I recently saw John Henson get envelopes full of $100 bills or when I saw Harrison Barnes' parents get a brand new $800,000 house, I didn't run to the Daily Tar Heel to rat them out.

Ridiculous. It's kinda ridiculous he parked in the spot, but completely ridiculous for the N&O to make this out to be serious sports news, with the long article and big pic (is it a coincidence that they chose a pic with Johnny Thomas in it?). I know people are always bitching about the N&&O, but seriously, this is terrible. And who's this State "fan" Chris Meekins who thought he should not only notify the chancellor and (maybe rightfully so) the sr associate AD, but also the F'ing N&O!

EDIT: and who's this "reporter" leah friedman, who claims to have never heard of ts(BMF) prior to this incident, and claims to not be able to name a player on unc or duke either? the n&o decides to publish a story, written by some woman (who usually writes about things like organic farming and using hair to mop up the gulf spill), about a "fan" claiming that he saw an athlete from his alma mater using a handicap sticker? (which was pretty stupid, if true)
