^^ Where the fuck have I been? I did not know about this. And I will be damned if it actually feels like In Rainbows was released all the way back in 2007.

Excellent...

You do realize that's for all the extra bells and whistles along with a vinyl. Try $9 and $14.

Yeah, I pre-ordered the mp3 version for now. As soon as I woke up I got the news and ordered it before I even got dressed

Whomever has the willpower not to purchase the album version with all the bells and whistles is a much stronger (or dumber) person than I am. Then again, I collect vinyl, so my choice was a no brainer. But this sounds freaking incredible!

Two clear 10" vinyl records in a purpose-built record sleeve.
A compact disc.
Many large sheets of artwork, 625 tiny pieces of artwork and a full-colour piece of oxo-degradeable plastic to hold it all together.
The Newspaper Album comes with a digital download that is compatible with all good digital media players.
The Newspaper Album will be shipped on Monday 9th May 2011 you can, however, enjoy the download on Saturday 19th February 2011.
Shipping is included in the prices shown.
One lucky owner of the digital version of The King Of Limbs, purchased from this website, will receive a signed 2 track 12" vinyl.

And $48 for all that is NOT bad-- considering the In Rainbows boxset was $100

PS I think the coolest thing about this album right now is that it will be the first album in a LONG time that I will listen to for the first time without having heard at least 1 song or multiple clips from it beforehand.

really love the artwork as well

and agreed about the newspaper edition. It is a great deal but I stay tight to my budgets so for now I'm just ordering the mp3 version.

^ I hear ya... and it doesn't say limited edition, so you can probably get it later if you decide to.

And, yeh, I'm with you-- I know NOTHING about the songs on this album. I haven't even heard any of the live tracks that were floating around. In Rainbows was much more of a "known factor" for me because I saw them on the tour in which they were road-testing IR material

exactly.

i had heard raw versions of almost everything on In Rainbows between live clips and all the tracks they played at the Tower Theater show before the release.

this has made my entire week.

i have no idea what the fuck a "newspaper album" or a "purpose-built record sleeve" is but I FUCKING WANT THEM

cannot wait to hear the album on Saturday...i haven't heard any snippets or live versions of any of the songs, either

also lol @ the people who haven't heard of arcade fire. i can't believe that many people still hadn't heard of arcade fire before last night. doesn't everyone care as much about music as i do?

A little behind the curve here but I think the new Decemberists is a mixed bag--several high points along with a helping of just ok. Good overall but some of the tracks are too derivative (Down by the Water sounds like it should be an REM cover and All Arise! is a little too Rolling Stones for my taste)

Going to have to check out the new Telekinesis!, I liked their first record. Also, don't know if anyone here cares for Flogging Molly, but they've got a new record coming out on March 24 called Speed of Darkness. They're probably my favorite band but I don't care for the lead single that got released last month--it just doesn't sound like them. The edges aren't rough enough, maybe overproduced. Evidently recorded in Asheville, NC though.

just got an email about the new radiohead album

i guess we can't enter whatever we feel like we should pay this time ($9 for 320 kbps and $14 for wav)

wonder what changed?

yeah I did the $9 option. I'm not sure what changed because I heard figures varying from $6-$8 for what the average price came out to be for their "pay what you want" portion of the In Rainbows sales.

I don't know that was the determining factor. Seems like all the small independent labels they went with agreed to terms dictated by Radiohead. They could have very easily only done physical releases through those labels and done the "pay what you want" with the digital downloads themselves (I am not sure what the final terms of their agreements were).

I've seen several small bands do that over recent years.

also anyone who hasn't checked out the NC based band Harvard needs to:

hxxp://www.mediafire.com/?420nyy5tipdftvl

Been following Jesse since he was playing with us and recording his own stuff (and all our own stuff) back in like 2003. His stuff is not metal related at all though so don't worry. Very spacey rock stuff with a lot of jazzy influences. Extremely talented guy.
