"But really, bandwagon fans in professional sports are people who pull for teams only because they're winning, like post-2004 Red Sox fan. Because you're not from Dallas or Pittsburgh doesn't matter if you've been pulling for them for generations. Pre-1994 NC NFL fans who weren't carpetbaggers were all bandwagoners? Come on. Pro teams don't give a shit about the city they're playing in (you know that, Cavs fan). Completely different from college sports"

+1.

Yeah, sorry I liked the NFL before the Panthers were a team. And I still cheered for the Cowboys all through the Gailey/Campo days.

There will never be another Jamarcus Russell. He was the biggest fail in the history of sports.

I got to say watching this tebow/orton thing from carolina perspective is hilarious, I mean orton went 20 tds/9ints last yr, we would kill for that, why are they even talking about tebow

i dont believe there even is a tebow option anymore. Looks like Orton/Quinn/Tebow now. Tebow only got 2 pass attempts in the last game. Quinn and Orton got like 16 each.

I still LOL when my many, many Giants fan friends try to argue Eli > Phil... just so funny. I just will never understand the level of delusion that can allow a Giants fan to argue Eli is a HOFer when he is, at best, a Top 10 QB in the league right now.

Luis Sojo > Ernie Banks

Got more rings.

Phil is a much better QB by every single metric available and none are very close. Shit, I half expect Sanchez to be better this year...

How much money did the Eagles just add to their cap number this year with Vick's new contract? I remember reading he could make $16 mil a year over the first few years. Did they just add $10 million to their cap number or am I off on that? Were they really $10 million under their cap number for the year before they re-did this contract? With all those players they already signed?

This is as confusing as the Redskins signing half the free agents every year...

They saved money from their cap this year by giving him the long term deal. He was franchised which means $texas for the cap

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/09/06/dream-team-members-get-new-numbers/
Quote :
"The Eagles have announced a slew of number changes, in the wake of the team’s final roster cuts.

Running back Ronnie Brown has ditched 36 for 21. Receiver Steve Smith has shifted from 19 to 11. Safety Jarrad Page has swapped 25 for 41. And rookie running back Dion Lewis has moved from 27 to 28.

When a player wants to change his number, Reebok routinely requires the player to reimburse the company for any unsold jersey inventory bearing the prior number. In many cases, the player chooses not to make the change once becoming aware of the cost.

In this case, it’s not known whether anyone will be reimbursing Reebok — or the folks who have forked over retail cost for the jerseys of some of the newest members of the Dream Team."

I had no idea players had to pay Reebok for unsold former-number jerseys.

I'm sure it's in their contracts and I have absolutely no problem with it. The old jerseys are basically worthless due to the players personal choice.
