Floyd needs to step it up, and they most definitely need a tight end to help with the blitz and prevent further injury to Mathews.
I was at the game on Sunday and it just proved that Denver fans are idiots. They were cheering Tebow even though he was 4/10. Orton... he's MUCH better than Tebow, although even I have to admit Orton isn't playing his best and leaving the door open.
Leaving the game you probably wouldn't have known Denver lost, the fans were chanting "Tebow, Tebow" all the way out and seemed pretty jovial.
I did hear some 'intelligent' fans if you can call them that, make snide comments like, "Now THAT'S what a real quarterback does" (when Rivers throws it away instead of getting sacked).... LOL 10/10/2011 3:11:57 PM |

Rivers did fine with third tier receivers last year. So that's hardly an excuse.
He just is a little off his game. He needs to step it up if they are to contend. Oakland is looking especially dangerous. Well their defense and running game is...Campbell is still sub par. It doesn't take a great team to win this division. San Diego just needs to polish up. 10/10/2011 3:47:21 PM |

That was the worst officiating I've seen in a long time. There were seemingly calling EVERY potential pass interference. A lot of those were beyond ticky-tack calls and downright shitty. And although they had some BS PI calls on both sides, they seemed to be leaning toward the Jets.
The Chargers were jumping offsides like a bunch of morons, but there were three NZI's that saw that the Jets OL clearly moved first.
Really effing frustrating game to watch as a Chargers fan, Rivers fan-boy, and Rivers fantasy owner. 10/24/2011 2:21:35 PM |

I have no clue WTF is up with Rivers. some of his throws this season are beyond Stoopid. And i also have him on my Fantasy team (he was my only keeper on a shitty FF team). Colt McCoy on Philips bye is my top QB score this year.
Maybe Vj needs to hold out again?? I know Gates has been out, but dang. Just Dang. stop throwing picks!!!!!!!

Uncle Tony told the refs before the game that the calls need to go toward NY or else!
In all seriousness when are they going to fire fucking Norv Turner. Throughout the years of underachievement or choking in critical games the only common factor is Norv.10/27/2011 1:20:55 PM |

As much as I want to "fire Norv" I can directly blame him for the loss.
- Bullshit penalties - Epic Penalties by Marcus McNeill - Inefficient red zone performance - Then the "fumble" with the victory seconds within reach.
Sometimes I really wonder if their are "gentleman's agreements" to let a certain team have the win. 11/1/2011 8:21:04 AM |

I've never seen one player be responsible for so many penalties. Marcus McNeil was really pissing me off watching. It was awful. But then again, he couldn't handle Hali and was doing whatever he could (holding) to protect his QB. That's no excuse for so damn many false starts though. 11/1/2011 8:46:09 AM |
jbrick83 All American 23447 Posts user info edit post |
McNeil looked like the Bears offensive line about 3 or 4 weeks ago against the Lions. It was quite painful to watch.
Also...the offensive PI call on Gates was horrible.
But fuck...the Chargers cannot score in the red zone to save their lives. It's quite ridiculous. 11/1/2011 8:56:25 AM |

3^
All of those are really indicative of poor coaching. The penalties are the most glaring. That is mental unpreparedness.
For a period of the game last night, there was obvious play calling. I know these guys are professional, but sometimes when a lay person can correctly predict the redzone pass (incomplete), run, pass play scheme multiple times in a row, perhaps it is time to either get a new coach, coordinator, or at the least get creative with the play calling.
i hate to see rivers struggle, and a bulk of the blame is on him. but i think gruden and jaws had it right when they said that the offense hurts from not practicing together for extended periods. and seriously, if they are going to double team gates, send that bitch in motion and run a route to where the defender(s) have just vacated. chargers run the most freaking long developing plays. 11/1/2011 9:02:28 AM |

They did that once, and for some reason Rivers intentionally overthrew a covered Goodman while Jackson was streaking wide open down the middle. Jackson was on fire after play.
I've never seen Rivers so nervous in the pocket. His protection is pretty decent, but he's been forcing a lot of throws and getting rid of the ball a lot earlier than he has in the past.11/1/2011 9:17:08 AM |
maximus All American 4556 Posts user info edit post |
i think that play was in the second quarter. jackson was at about the 7 yard line just inside the left hash going towards the post. i couldn't tell if he was open before rivers threw the ball. but this year, i would figure he was and rivers just didn't get it to him. 11/1/2011 9:36:19 AM |

Rivers had a horrible first quarter, played lights out for the rest of the game until he fumbled away the win.
the fuck was that
sure there were other factors (1000 penalties against McNiell, bullshit PI on Gates, injuries LOL), but I put this loss on Rivers. 11/1/2011 9:51:56 AM |

One day you'll quit being a fanboy and will be able to admit when he's shitting the bed.
I think it's funny that some NC State fans are okay with admitting when our sports teams are playing horrible and will rag the fuck out of our players, but they will not dare say a bad word about Philip. It's like he's some sort of NC State deity. Fucking ridiculous.11/6/2011 6:52:23 PM |
