filing jointly, we got $1500 back from the fed and $500 back from the state this year

so...in light of this, i have a question about withholding tax payment until filing next year...anyone do this? turbotax said my effective tax rate was 25%...does that mean that i should just take 25% of my monthly paycheck and set it aside?

^ i didn't actually pay that much...that's before deductions (i think)

in fact, looking at the PDF at the end, my "new" effective tax rate is 9.49%

my wife is going back to school in the fall, too, so i don't know what that will do to it

i'm just trying to figure out what percentage to set aside each month

I had to pay a penalty when I owed more than $1k in taxes at filing time. Better look into the penalties before withholding any tax payment.

The W4 has a little worksheet that helps you calculate withholding.

I called SECU 6 times between Jan - Mar of this year to ask about where two missing 1099s were. I was told each time that such 1099s were not issued for these accounts, which confused the shit out of me because I know I have to submit something for the two accounts... anywho, I just send my CPA year end statements and he rolled with it.

Well, what do I get in the mail YESTERDAY? The two 1099s I had been asking about that SECU "doesn't issue".

Holy fucking shit morons.

I owe NC money and I am trying to figure out how to pay them. When I did my return on tax slayer, I remember seeing somewhere that I would have to send payment in the mail and couldn't pay online...?

But doing a search online, I found this. Is this how I can pay NC income taxes owed online? The site looks kinda crappy and before entering personal info I want to make sure I'm at the right place.
