They read their bibles articles and attend their churches lectures to listen to their preachers professors educate them. The same as you proving to yourself the validity of the theory of evolution, she may say to you that she can prove to herself the validity of believing in God because of her relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer and meditation.
I'm just taking it from a different angle, trying to understand both sides.
Neither scientists nor religious people are idiots. They both make informed decisions on what they want to place their faith in. Either way, you can believe that God used evolution to bring about all that we see and have it both ways. Just chop out the big bang part. " |
Wow you stumbled headlong into this one. I agree that science and religion are very similar (many people are very disturbed by this idea but they both were founded on the idea of explaining "how things work") the difference is one group is using observation and experimentation to TEST AND SUPPORT THEIR CLAIMS. The other group is NOT. Which one seems more rational? You also seem confused by the angry responses. This is also pretty simple. Right now our country is being ruined by dumbfucks and we are supposed to not challenge the dumbfucks when they are adamant in their dumbfuckery because it might hurt their dumbfuck feelings. She is wrong (this is not debatable) and she should be universally derided because of her adamant stupidity. 2/10/2012 7:41:25 PM

and you've just made a value judgement. which is fine, but that only feeds into his point. 2/10/2012 7:44:04 PM

Someone once told me that inter-species evolution was important because one day we could make chickens into dinosaurs.
I guess I can see that. 2/10/2012 7:49:04 PM

^you do understand that our entire system of taxonomy is completely flawed. Our system of binomial nomenclature is based on a idea that species are clearly defined and aren't undergoing evolution. Taxonomists are fighting a loosing battle right now.
^^ of course a value judgement is made. If both religion and science are the same thing. ONE IS WRONG. One is based upon someone simply telling you something is so. The other is based upon observation and experimentation. ONE IS BETTER THAN THE OTHER.

I think that you're presupposing that taxonomists do or claim something that they don't. 2/11/2012 6:33:42 PM

if you think "losing" is spelled "loosing". How do you think you are supposed to spell "loose"? just add another 'o'? I don't get that mistake. 2/11/2012 6:38:07 PM

What does this have to do with evolution? SHe can believe in god all she wants, but god isn't telling her to believe that the world is only 7000 years old, and most fields of science are wrong/lying.
And you don't even have to believe in evolution to realize that a literal Creationist story is just blatantly, and completely, wrong.
Whether or not evolution is real, anyone who willfully believes that the Earth is only 7000 years old is an idiot, plain and simple. 2/11/2012 7:22:32 PM

The "no one knows what is objectively true" gambit. Ask aaronburro is the computer he used to post that tripe on is real or not.
Science has demonstrated nearly an infinite amount of times that it is the best tool for gaining understanding about reality. You can't conceptualize this away. There is no better or comparable method of discovery. 2/12/2012 2:00:02 AM

Thank you for writing this column; it was an enjoyable read and something I think everyone needs to hear. I think students should be taught both sides and given the option to choose. I, like you, am a creationist and very interested in Christian apologetics. I think there is more to the Bible, the Gospel and Jesus Christ than what people are exposed to. Science and history actually overwhelmingly support the claims Jesus was who he says he was. Thank you for not being intimidated by your teacher or the student body and for writing this column. I had a similar experience with a teacher in the biochemistry department." |

I agree with publishing opposing viewpoints. I don't agree with posting blatant lies.

To be fair, Jesus was rather modest for being the son of God. It's people who claim to speak on behalf of Jesus or to be divinely inspired by him that make the more boastful claims. 2/20/2012 11:39:00 AM
