A 17 year old kid is pretty much an adult. Not in a legal sense, but old enough to know what is going on and have a developed mind where that kind of thing isn't gonna mess them up. If anything they'd be lazy and bored while in court. If the teacher is hot, they'd prob be a local hero amongst their classmates.

^^ yeah, definitely shouldn't be considered any form of rape, unless maybe there was a clear abuse of the position of authority to leverage sexual compliance. Even then, I'd be open to lesser charges, depending on the details.

In the majority of cases, where the student is freely engaging, I lean towards saying it shouldn't be criminal at all. It makes you a terrible teacher, and you should never be allowed to work in that field again, but I don't think it should be a crime.

Agreed; but I think male, or female, for the vast majority of cases, criminal charges are absurd. A 17 year old kid, boy or girl, knows what they're doing. Unless there is coercion, it's really consensual and ruining peoples' lives isn't worth it.
