As much as I cursed him in the first half, Cat was pretty solid in the 2nd half controlling the game despite not showing much in the box score.

After watching recaps of the game I figured out what his problem is. In the half court offense the other team's defense is set so he can't use his explosive speed, he needs high screens set for him and GOOD ones. There are only low screens set primary for Turner,and Barber has few lanes to drive to due to the poor spacing. Reference the Miami and Duke game and watch how many high screens were set for their quick point guard to get into the lanes for easy buckets. Barber doesn't have none of this and this is something Gottfried should work on immediately.

He's incredibly easy to defend because he doesn't have a prayer of making a jumper with any regularity.

They can just go under every screen and beat him to the spot with 0 fear of him actually pulling up and shooting.

Until he shows he can actually make a wide open shot he's never going to be effective in ANY offense, no just State's.

You can be an effective point guard without a 3 point shot. Cat can hit the mid range jumper with decent effectiveness.

Of course you can be, but Cat isn't. Kendall Marshall is a great example of this, but KM was diming people up all over the court by making great individual plays in the form of passes. That's how you influence games when you can't score.

Every now and then he'll shoot from the elbow, but he the fact remains he has a broke jumper and other teams are daring him to shoot it now.

You fan feel him trying to wish it in the basket the few times he actually does square up.

He has a true shooting percentage of 54% and an effective shooting percentage of 48%. I couldn't find any stats about mid-range jumpers versus layups, but you make it sound like he's never hit a jumper.

Is his confidence just completely gone or what? Dude does not even look to shoot a 3 at all. Teams are pretty much daring him to. I wish he would develop his 3 and he could be really good.

Cat's ability to draw fouls is very good, I do wish he would drive to the basket more.

And lol at Anya's block percentage. He blocks 16% of the 2 point field goals attempted while he's in the game. Not 16% of the shots he tries to block, but 16% of every shot attempted while he's on the floor. And 18.5% in only conference games.

Also, Chris Brickhouse is the new Jevoni. Ultra efficient in garbage time against other scrubs.

Cat's got a good jumper. Obviously he needs to work on his 3, but he's pretty good inside the arc. I really like his pull-up but he hasn't been doing that as much recently for some reason.

For everyone that says, "it's not all on him," fuck right off. Of course he's not the sole reason for a loss, but he's the one player you can count on to suck shit more often than not. Leading the team in turnovers, especially as a point guard, while making bone headed plays nonstop is nothing to be proud of.

Credit where it's due; he's quick and can play great defense.

I'd like to see a diagram of where his made shots are on the court. Does that exist?
