Henne at least threw for a TD and showed an ability to move the ball against a good FCS team that would go on to win three straight championships. Richmond got beat by fucking Garder-Webb and Maine. Care to make any more stupid comparisons?

The NFL is a different ballgame than college football
He deserved to get bench because he couldn't throw
I just don't get all the hate after we're 3-1
Did we pull a win over Richmond out of our asses? Absolutely
But why all the Thomas bashing after a comfortable win today? 9/28/2013 11:38:14 PM |
aaronburro Sup, B 53063 Posts user info edit post |
I guess since we're talking about how good a player is in one league, I can't bring up any other parallels in any other league ever.
I just took your example and proved that winning, something that takes in to account far more than the play of just one person, is not the best way to judge one particular player's ability, and you ignored it because it's inconvenient. Hey, we won today. I guess that means our 5th string WR must be awesome!!!
^ He couldn't throw, so maybe that makes him a bad QB? Hmmm, I wonder what a good measure of how well someone throws a football might include... His passing TD stats? Naaaaaaah. Yardage? Naaaaaaah. INTs? Naaaaaaaaah. it's gotta be how well the rest of team carries him. 9/28/2013 11:43:07 PM |

Thomas has a 63% completion percentage and a 113.4 QB rating
if you can't admit that that is at least decent, i dunno what to tell you

Thomas had a 179 rating this game and we coasted to victory
what exactly are you expecting from a transfer backup QB? Rivers? Wilson? Glennon?

"Run the offense" is a pretty common phrase used for quarterbacks, not sure what you're on about or where you've been.
you made a stupid comparison between "Thomas [a player who touches the ball every play] is decent because we're winning/his recent stats are fine/he gets better every game" and "<s>this guy that never plays is awesome because we're winning!!</s>" I think a QB has more to do with running the offense than a 5th string WR does, so a victory might be more indicative of the QB's ability than the 5th string receiver's ability.
fucking insufferable
I guess it's pretty clear you're trolling now

^ I don't care how common a phrase it is. The fact that he tells people the play that someone else told him to run is not all that impressive, so he can't really take credit for that.
OK, so now you see that merely being on a team that wins isn't necessarily a good judge of how good of a player you are. Now, extrapolate that a little further to the point where you see that simply winning a game is not the result of one single player. Then you will begin to see that maybe other players are influencing the outcome, too *shocker*. Then maybe you'll see that they could also be winning despite you, which very clearly describes the Richmond game... Are you starting to get it now?] 9/29/2013 12:25:18 AM |

Thomas is also only asked to throw about 25 times a game...so you can't expect him to rack up a shitload of yards and touchdowns when we've seen after 4 games that Doeren's style is a run-first offense

But who is saying he is a great QB? Most of the favorable Thomas talk I have read during games is "good job Pete, you're improving" or "woo Thomas finally threw a TD"...I don't think anyone is saying he's a great QB or he's responsible for the 3 wins we have this year...he is what he is, which is a backup QB thrust into the starting role due to injury and aside from some wobblers against La Tech, I think he's done a decent job, especially considering the fact that sometimes he can't necessarily get into a great rhythm with Sherifs being subbed in throughout 9/29/2013 12:55:58 AM |

thomas has had way more than 25 passing plays called in every game
about 10 of them turn into runs because he looks at one WR and if there is a defender within 5 yards of him he tucks it and runs for 4 yards, even if it is 3rd and 12

This should not be up for debate. The guy is shitty. Nobody is saying the team is shitty so responding with the team having a good game or good record is moot. We are winning in spite of thomas. The offense with a good rushing attack good protection and quick throws is propping this guy up. Jay davis was much better. We havent had a decent qb since the ocain days. If we had a decent qb we would be in the title hunt. Nothing worse than a slow scrambling qb who cant throw on the run. 9/29/2013 2:52:58 AM |

Its not asinine or "bitching and monaing" to say that one player on our team is bad.
There were 22 starters yesturday so the result of the game doesn't say that they are all great.
I think everyone is happy with the team.
Just like if sade went 1/5 fgs and missed a few xps in a blowout, that would be unacceptable and I'd expect you to all call him out and not say "look at his record" 9/29/2013 11:29:53 AM |

Oh, a 2 touchdown day from Thomas is comparable to a hypothetical 20% field goal kicking day now.

Only on TWW would a game thread about a 48-14 victory turn into a battle royal about whether our <backup> starting QB is an absolute pile of shit or a serviceable player who is improving with each game.
I'll agree that 1:5 is an abysmal TD-INT ratio but the rest of his game makes me think this year might turn out respectable. Though it will be interesting to see if Mitchell gets the starting job back immediately upon his return, or if Thomas has progressed enough by that time that he has the job until fuckuperry occurs. 9/30/2013 1:19:17 AM |
