Yea there's no way I'd go to a Wednesday night race. Also not all the tracks have lights. His schedule makes sense for the competitors, but for fans and tv that's trash.

Harvick was dominant. Chase Elliott continues to amaze and increases his points lead to 19 over regan smith and 23 over elliott Sadler. He has as many top 5s as the other two combined. Talladega should be interesting as it is mostly luck 4/26/2014 11:21:19 AM |

I love Days of Thunder...but there were a few things that amazed me in that clip:
1. The large brush fire that had apparently started in Turn 3 causing the smoke he had to drive through...which leads me to 2. Drive through the wreck? Theres a caution...slow your ass down and make sure you get through it. You're already in last...you're not gonna lose any positions.
Anyways...back to NASCAR. Looking forward to the ASR tonight and the Nationwide race at Iowa tomorrow. Chase Elliott looks REALLY fast in all of the practices. He also has a ton of wheel time at Iowa in different cars. I expect him to be really good tomorrow. 5/17/2014 3:40:10 PM |

10 laps was the worst possible choice. Just long enough for them to get strung out...just short enough for nobody to be able to put a run together to catch the leader. Either make it a 3 lap shootout or a 30 lap run.
I'll give it to McMurray though. His crew did a whale of a job and then he drove the hell out of that thing. He deserved it, no doubt.

why does NASCAR feel the need to invent a new gimmick every year for the Shootout and All-Star Race?

notes:
-Carpenter's 2nd pole in a row at Indy, has the place figured out for 4 laps, even his one-off teammate J.R. Hildebrand did well getting 9th -row 4 is pretty star-studded with Montoya, Dixon, and Busch -Ganassi SUCKED on Saturday, Kanaan and Dixon held up their honor on Sunday in their portion of qualifying that set positions 10 thru 33, but still, Ryan Briscoe has no reason to be back in 30th -starting 31st on the grid is Sage Karam, he's a couple weeks away from graduating from high school from the Andrettis' home town of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, not related to them though; won the Indy Lights title last year and is running sportscars full-time on a development deal for Ganassi, hope for big things from this kid, he's not from money either -an oddity of this year, you have 3 drivers going for consecutive Indy 500 wins: Kanaan who won last year, Juan Montoya who is running the Indy 500 for the first time since his win in 2000, and Jacques Villeneuve who is running the Indy 500 for the first time since his win in 1995 (the last pre-Split 500)
My handicapping if you do as I do and have 11 people each draw 3 drivers out of a hat where the winner gets all the money:
Quote : | "The Favorites to Win: Carpenter, Hinchcliffe, Castroneves, Dixon, Kanaan
Not Longshots, but Not Favorites Either: Power, Pagenaud, Andretti, Montoya, Hunter-Reay
If All the Cards Fall Right, They're Arie Luyendyk in 1990: Munoz, Newgarden, Hildebrand, Busch, Bourdais, Kimball, Briscoe
Good Drivers in Not Good Enough Cars: Wilson, Servia, Rahal, Sato, Tagliani, Bell, Villeneuve
They're Starting: Hawksworth, Aleshin, Huertas, Mann, Davison, Plowman, Karam, Saavedra, Lazier" |

Like the fast 9 stuff and now allowing unlimited attempts to get a time in? Not having to withdraw your previous time when you do make a new attempt? Saturday's times being erased and having to do it all again on Sunday? Major points being awarded, almost equalling a regular race result?5/19/2014 8:07:18 AM |

At least NASCAR does not waste a month at one track.
Run two races at one track in a month, etc. The All-Star race is a gimmick, so whats wrong with changing it every year? It's not like the winner gets anything other than money. I wish they would move it to a short track, and add eliminations. 5/19/2014 8:23:03 AM |

^ Daytona. (preseason practice, Shootout, qualifying, the Twins/Duels, ARCA race, Nationwide race, Truck race, 500)
^^ ABC wanted the polesitter to be determined Sunday afternoon and the lack of entries compared to recent times has reduced the drama of Bump Day to nada, thus why Pole Day is now Sunday as ABC wanted the crowning bit of qualifying to be at the end instead of the start.
In NASCAR's case they took something from the past that would work perfectly fine for the format of the All-Star Race now and change it for no reason. Why are there 4 20-lap segments? What's wrong with segment 1, invert x many, segment 2, pit if you want, then 10-lap trophy dash?
