I got the girlfriend Belle and Sebastian tickets. I can't believe I've never seen them live before! I'm also debating about whether or not to see Menomena in late Sept. It's going to be a bitch trying to see any weekday show during the school year.

i saw him in 2006ish (maybe 2007) and it was really great.

was a seated show at a theater, but had a large backing band, all with butterfly wings on their backs.

annie clark (st. vincent) was playing with him, dunno if she still tours with him.

---

side note: im currently trying to transfer jobs. there's a ton of great shows coming up this fall that i dont want to buy tickets for because i dont know if ill still be near philadelphia and it bums me out.

"MoogFest in Asheville, NC on Halloween weekend looks like it should be pretty sweet. http://www.moogfest.net/

Artists announced so far for it: MGMT, Massive Attack, Thievery Corporation, Big Boi, Jonsi, Caribou. Full lineup coming August 10"

anyone else feel like the lineup and ticket prices for this aren't matching up?

it might be a little steep, but it's not out of line

i mean, the weekend pass is $150

you could easily pay that to see MGMT/Big Boi and Massive Attack/Hot Chip on individual shows

not to mention Panda Bear, Caribou, El-P, Matmos, Dan Deacon, Girl Talk, etc.

^only of those acts i really get excited about seeing are hot chip, caribou, panda bear, and mgmt. with all of them playing on different days, i'd be spending roughly $40 per to see two acts i've already seen.

when you compare it to the hopscotch lineup (more shows period and higher quality artist list) and ticket prices (a lot cheaper), hopscotch wins in a landslide. perhaps i'm just spoiled by that.

That lineup is pretty solid for what they're going for, and I'd say $150 might be a little high, but it's not too high;I honestly would've been shocked if ticket prices were announced and they were under $100. That said, I probably won't go because of the ticket price, I was only gonna go if they were illogically cheap tix.

I will say the one glaring hole in the lineup is LCD Soundsystem, especially with Hot Chip on the lineup but not LCD. I bet they tried hard to get him.

Then perhaps you should go to a different festival.

I will agree that the price is a bit higher than I'd be willing to play, but you also have to consider they're getting a lot of big acts into a podunk mountain town to play, which may come at a premium. These tickets aren't a deal, but they're not a rip, either.

The more I look at the Moogfest lineup, the more I want to go. Heard that LCD might be added to the Sunday night lineup. If I'm being unbiased, I think Moogfest will be a better festival all-around than Hopscotch. Hopscotch is obviously the better bargain, though.

moogfest is more coherent for sure, but that's the beauty of the hopscotch lineup

if for some reason i'm feeling really good stoner metal instead of three minute jangle songs, i can go find it

moogfest doesn't offer that kind of variety

No, it doesn't offer variety, but if you're looking for a deliriously fun Halloween weekend, hard to top the Moogfest lineup. As long as you're into various forms of electronic music. But, agreed, they both have their advantages.

Moogfest put up a facebook post that they have some lineup additions that they will announce tomorrow morning. People on facebook are clamoring for Daft Punk, but that's not happening. I'd say LCD will be the big one.

wow, i'm really surprised to hear that. you're the first person i've heard say they don't really like asheville. not passing judgment, just surprised. but yeah, if it's daft punk, i will be going (and ticket sales will go way up, way quicker). but it's not daft punk.

that's what i said...then i immediately made sure there wasn't some electronic act that took on the pseudonym of van dyke parks that i was unaware of. but nope, it's THE van dyke parks. very bizarre.

maybe they confused van dyke parks with armin van buuren haha
