I've looked into that and from what I remember, it came with A LOT of flowers, but they were all similar (e.g., all roses). Maybe it's changed. I'll have to look again.

Just a random note...

Those of you who are booking your cake months in advance, make sure you get back in contact with your cake vendor a few days before the wedding to ensure that your expectations and what they are making are still the same. I ordered my cake from a relatively small cake shop that came highly recommended. When the big day came, someone from the shop made a quick drop at the location without speaking with anyone. I had special flowers made by the florist to go between the tiers - but they did not tier the cake, so it was nothing like I had planned. The colors were not done right, but luckily I had chosen off white and white so the flowers would stand out so it didn't really matter. When I went back to their location to complain, the woman looked at her notes, said yep, I screwed it up and basically told me that's too bad. She said I should have called her the day of the drop off... mere hours before the ceremony - when I was having my hair/makeup done and unable to see the cake. Riiiiiight. So - learn from my experience and double - triple - quadruple check they are doing what you asked for!

Any recommendations on caterers in the Raleigh area that will do barbeque? The Pit can't cater to groups as big as ours (150-200 ppl).... I'm going to try contacting Cooper's but I'm starting to wonder if they would be able to accommodate a group that size as well...

You may also want to extend your search to include areas like Goldsboro, Clayton, etc. You may have to pay a bit more for them to drive to Raleigh, but you'll get a wider range of bbq places if Cooper's can't do it.

For our wedding, we got a family friend to cook the pig. Probably not the route you want to go, because it's always a good idea to deal with people in an official manner, but it is something to consider. Do you have any friends of friends you can pay to cook the pig for you, and you order everything else to be catered in?

How long did y'all have between your ceremony and your reception? We were thinking of doing 30 min for pics and 30 minutes for a boat ride from the ceremony site to arrive on boat to the reception...Is that too long for visitors to mingle?

I think I'm going to separate the day in to cocktails/ceremony, reception/dinner, and after-reception beach ceremony from early evening on in to the night....That way my family that doesn't drink can head back home after reception- and the friends can move to the beach and continue having maximum fun.

As long as you're already serving drinks and hors d'oeurves to get things started while they wait for you to arrive from pics, that's an ok amt of time I think. I think ours was about an hour. We scheduled it that way at least

We're scheduling a full hour for the cocktail hour. There will be a build-your-own-nachos bar in addition to the booze so I think that hour will fly by before anyone knows it.

We're doing things all out of order. Pics will be before the wedding and when we're done with the ceremony its "everybody grab your chair and head to the reception tables, time to eat/drink/be merry". No need for a cocktail hour. It helps that the wedding and reception will be in the back yard.

Sabrina was in our wedding as the Dog of Honor (we liked that title better ). She didn't have an outfit. She just wore a collar of flowers, and walked with my brother down the aisle. Venue stipulations had it so she had to be on a leash at all times, so she walking down alone (which we were worried she might not do anyway) wasn't an option.

To get her ready, we took her to the venue as often as possible beforehand so she would be familiar with it, the smells, and not freak out. Also made sure someone was in charge of taking her to where she was staying immediately following ceremony & pictures while we all went to the reception. We also made sure she had her own bag with treats, water dish, plenty of water, and poop bags. My brother as her escort (whom she loves and we knew would be able to handle her best) was in charge of her b4 the cermony.

She did great! She listened and sat down during the ceremony when my brother just tapped her. She did whine when I started my vows bc she could hear me but didn't actually recognize me in my dress

Thanks! I was glad she was there and will be part of that memory forever. Pictures of us with her are some of my favorites, and I love the video footage of her coming down the aisle and hearing her whine in the background during the vows

Oh! And another tip! dog hair rollers! We made sure the guys (esp justin and my bro) had one in case she got too close to their black tuxedos

We're totally having Gambit as our dog of honor! That was one of the first things I asked River Ridge. They said he could even stay there during the reception as long as we had a crate for him. So, I say DO IT


Yesterday I went to an antique shop and found some baller vases and jars.... Including this old milk jar




I guess you could say this is a mock-up? We're collecting old bottles, jars, and vases.. plan on having a few per table.

And we also found our toasting glasses.... A pair of matching milk glass goblets that we couldn't pass up

Anyone throw down a non-religious outdoorsy wedding? I was raised Catholic and my girlfriend's family is Buddhist but neither of us trying to do those ceremonies. I do anticipate heavy drama from my mother for shunning the faith.

We had an outdoor wedding, though we did have a somewhat "religious" ceremony (prayers and all). It did not fit the norm as far as our particular denominations go, however. I am Catholic, and he is Independent Baptist, so having a ceremony with the full mass was not going to work (his family would probably not have attended). Also, I didn't want a solely Baptist service. Our officiant ended up being an Episcopalian minister, and we loved him. He was very understanding of our wishes, and gave us lots of options.

We also had a non-religious ceremony, but in case my very religious nana and other familia were really listening we let the officiant mention God once in the very beginning. Our vows did not mention God at all. I have the whole thing on transcript if you'd like to see it for an example or idea.
