^^^I thought about dressing up as well.

Basically I want an excuse to rock one of my bowties. I think I'll go suit with no jacket.

no annuals for me.

bowerbirds would be awesome, but i'm going to deerhunter at the cradle instead. this week/end is kind of a little insane for music in triangle area. some good stuff going on everywhere.

it's not like you have to "listen to Diplo" to enjoy his show

he's a fun DJ. his show at the Cradle a few years ago was great. the Major Lazer show too.

free ticket to Deerhunter or Bowerbirds at Kings?

i think I'm gonna go to Kings, because I didn't like anything from Deerhunter prior to Halcyon Digest, even though i can see the Bowerbirds anytime i like.

i love the bowerbirds, but i've always found them to be very boring in a live setting

with that said, their crazy new lineup could change that

the Bowerbirds were pretty stellar tonight with their new, fuller sound. I thought it was damn good.

at the same time, I would've enjoyed Deerhunter, but the bottom line was good show + convenience =/= cat's cradle. It was Kings, ftw.

as bad as it sounds for CC, i selfishly hope that's a trend of thought that continues.

So, the Motorco Music Hall opening night was pretty damn good. The area's kinda sketchy (it is Durham), but the show was fun. Hammer No More the Fingers being excellent as usual.

^Scratch that 'opening night' bit, apparently it opened a while back. Last night was just being called the 'Grand Opening' for some reason.

Anyway, the show was good, is what I'm saying.

i also thought the drums were too loud which is a rare complaint from me. i had high hopes going in, too. it was ok, but nothing to write home about. oh well!

i def wish i had gone to menomena instead. but there was no way to know that going in!

I thought you were talking about the band The Drums to which I was going to respond 'i also thought the drums were too gay.'

I should start reading threads.

the bowerbirds are pretty mellow in a live show but it was a really good show. im glad we made the choice to stay in Raleigh instead of heading out to see deerhunter.

Kid Future opened and they were pretty good too. we were going to head into neptunes pre-show but the sound was too good to pass up.

I thought Deerhunter was awesome. But, I'm a bigger fan than most of that band and I've loved them all three times I've seen them. I didn't have any complaints about the drummer, but I also was paying a lot more attention to the guitars.

Also, Gayngs did not win the week if you were at Built to Spill last night. I hadn't seen them before. Holy fuck are they talented.

Yeah, I had a blast at Vampire Weekend. Dudes are way more entertaining than I thought they would be. And they are all actually very solid musicians, especially the drummer. Really enjoyed Beach House, too; perfect opener for VW.

The Thermals on Saturday at Kings were great.

I'm ashamed to say I wasn't too familiar with much they did after The Body, The Blood and The Machine, but I was impressed by what I heard in terms of the last three albums material.

Cymbals Eat Guitars were pretty good as well.
