The rate cut may not help much, but the report that home sales unexpectedly increased will hopefully inject a bit of confidence into some people

there's no way the DOW is closing green today... if it is staying around 100 pts right now, we'll def be in the red by this afternoon at least, that's how the trend has been in wally world lately.

Picked up some RIMM today; may get more if it falls significantly again. Right now I think its grossly undervalued; merely a victim of the broader crash.

Looking to possible pick up some shares of a basic materials company. Right now FCX is on the type of my list.

there are no poor people on main street.

wall street, main street, and skid row

back on topic...

we've dropped off about 50% in the past month. 33 of that this week. at this point i think most everyone would rather lose it all than sell it that short. i don't even pay attention until i see this thread.

Hell, shit keeps hitting the fan, I'll be able to afford Brk.A before long

so the shorting ban on financials ends tonight.

what do y'all think is going to happen tomorrow?

unrelated to the end of the shorting ban, I see 9000 as a psychological barrier and think we don't dip below in the immediate future.

You have got to be crazy to go long anything in this market. Cash is king. Don't worry about missing a bottom.

With that said, we'll get a bounce soon, maybe tomorrow. After a day or two of that, we'll drop again. We're nowhere near a bottom now. We still don't understand what the fuck is going on with the CDSs that are floating around. The measures Paulson has taken will help but it'll be weeks before he even writes checks for bad mortgages. It'll be weeks before the direct loans to the businesses from the treasury will help.

If you're looking for something to do, buy TWM long. It's an inverse Russell 2000 ETF and a nice easy play.

I shorted FSLR because solar stocks had been outrageously priced (it's current p/e ratio is 46.2!!). People have started to realize they have these overpriced stocks in the solar and green industry and they are going to bail on them. And even more fundamentally, people and companies are going to stop spending money on solar panels which are expensive to begin with but provide a return several years down the road in an economy where they are struggling to pay the mortgage or to meet the quarterly goals. You buy solar panels with disposable income.

If there were a red bull stock I would short that shit in a second!

With all that said, those are just my reasonings and feelings on those two securities. Buy/Sell at your own risk.

Its when everyone is saying you have to be crazy to be buying/long/exposed/etc in this market that I feel that its about time to start buying.

I would buy IBM if it gets in the low $70's or high $60s again. It didn't break $100 in the post 9/11 era until the mid part of 2007. It can certainly go a lot lower than the $90 range and it has done so in recent history. It's a big company with lots of long term investors...It moves slowly. I bet it's going to keep creeping down for quite a while to come.
