Pete Thomas likes BC because of the record for developing QBs... I wonder who developed those QBs and if we can get him on staff... oh, wait...

I think it had more to do with the offer. I believe that article or one of the others said something about NC State moving to the top of the list if we offered, of course USC and others had the same chance

Donte Carr (who is listed as a * above) is referred to by rivals as one of the top safety's in the county, looks like an absolute beast.

Any chance we land him??? He has a pretty big list of offers, but we sure need help at that position.

^^^^ Hurst was in Chapel Hill about a month ago and said he was blown away by the visit. A couple of reliable posters on IC were calling his committment to UNC before summer camp. Didn't expect it quite this early though.

Butch must have a really good sales pitch. That kid is something like #8 on the scout 100. Last article I read said he was waiting on an offer from Southern Cal. Amazing that they get a kid from 10-12 hours away to commit this damn early!

Not sure if its Butch? The recruiting visits/tactics? Chapel Hill in general? Bags of cash? or the Baby Blue/Jordan Effect, but they have something going over there, and I just hope we continue to best them on the field!

See: John Blake

He was the head coach at OU that got an absolutely incredible amount of talent to come there... but he sucked baws at coaching. Stoops came in and went to the national championship game his 2nd season.

Dude can recruit like no other. He's known to be quite dirty, but effective

[Edited on April 23, 2009 at 8:52 AM. Reason : Edit: And I just saw that Sam Pittman was recruiting him, but Blake. Meh, point still stands. ]

Yeah BD kind of did the same thing at Miami where he recruited and built one of the best college teams of all-time...if not THE best team, and Coker came in and won it with his players. Butch has always been a top of the line recruiter, the big question mark has always been his ability to coach.

Unfortunately, in college sports, sometimes better recruits outweigh ability to coach. With it being "carolina" n all, its scary to think what they could do as far as recruiting if they got their act together in other ways.

Gabe King ruled ineligible to participate in any sport for the next year. He'll have to transfer to a private or prep school to play football in 09. Wouldn't be surprised to see him at Hargrave for his senior season.

^the ONLY reason i would say to keep recruiting this kid is because I see TOB as a college level Bill Belichek where any player would come in and leave a better person/player. However....this kid has a tough row to hoe. Hes talented....but it wouldn't kill me to see him go somewhere else

DT/TE Ethan Farmer can be added to the list of players that we have offered. He's got a nice offer list so far. I wonder why we haven't heard as much about him. He looks like a highly regarded regional prospect according to all the programs going after him. Jerry Petercuskie is heading up his recruitment.

Thoughts:

1) V-Tech at #5?? They weren't all that great last season, and I don't see where the big improvement will come from.

2) G-tech at #14 - I can see that. As hot as they were playing at the end of the year, there's no telling what they'll achieve in 2009

3) Notre Dame anywhere in the Top 25 is a joke. They lost to Syracuse last year. AT HOME. I know they have talented players, but how many top tier recruiting classes have they had during their descent into mediocrity in the past few years?

They won the orange bowl, that's as good as any team in the ACC could have done last year. They've got a solid QB and a stud tailback returning along with a more experienced group of receivers, and their defense is always solid. It might be a little high but it's not a ridiculous pick.

do you not remember them getting totally dominated by a mediocre LSU team in the Chick Fil A bowl? They also got killed by Carolina a few weeks before that. 2-2 in your last 4 games isn't exactly playing hot at the end of the year.

Former Armwood star Hadley arrested again

Former Armwood football player Angelo Hadley was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with three felony counts, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office online arrest report.

Hadley, who signed a scholarship offer to play football at North Carolina in February, was charged with third-degree grand theft, grand theft of a firearm and armed burglary of a dwelling with firearm possession, all third-degree felonies.

It is the second time this month Hadley, who turned 18 in September, had been arrested. On April 5, he was arrested and charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious battery. He was released that morning on $15,000 bond.

According to the most recent arrest report, Hadley was arrested at 12000 Highway 92 East, the address for Armwood High School, at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was being held at Orient Road Jail on no bond Wednesday night.

Hadley ended his high school career as Armwood's all-time leader in interceptions. He was a Times All-Hillsborough County first-team selection this fall.

A text message to Armwood coach Sean Callahan wasn't immediately returned Wednesday evening.

Wow what a dumbass. I just don't understand why some people who have a great opportunity in front of them squander it. I wouldn't be surprised if Butch rescinded his scholarship (of course I wouldn't be too surprised if he didn't either).

If I was given a full ride somewhere I would be on my best behavior before enrolling. Hell I think I'd probably even drive the speed limit.
