Order from Belgium. Typically you have to order 12 bottles or "fill the box" to make shipping worth it. I doubt I'll keep all of it, probably trade half of it away for other bottles.

FYI you can buy '11 Sang Noir off their website.
http://www.cascadebrewingbarrelhouse.com/info_order%20form.pdf

If you do a group ship with some people in your area you can save a bit on shipping buying 4/6 bottles instead of just two, or add a 4th bottle and get one of The Vine. I had The Vine at the Sourfest and it was one of my favorites! Comes out to about $25-26/bottle.

I can't wait for that Sierra Nevada Beer Camp mixed pack. This year it's got an Imperial Red, Oatmeal Stout, Imperial Pilsner and a "floral" IPA.

I am not sure if this has been mentioned and I don't feel like looking. But Aviatar has a few amazing beers: The Devil's Stomping Ground at 9.2% and it tastes like spring water. It will take you by surprise. Mad Beach and Hot Rod Red is pretty good too. The best part about this place, is its in downtown Fuquay and they serve the BEST chicken wings, ribs and BBQ. They smoke their meats then fry them. YUM!! Their corn and Mac and Cheese is pretty good too. My favorite place to eat, drink beer and relax. The atmosphere is stellar!

^^^ it honestly tastes more like wine than beer to me. it's been a while since i've had it, and i've since developed more of a taste for wine, but at the time i wasn't a fan (and i love high gravity shit).

I didn't like it the first time I had it either...but it also came out of a cold ass refrigerator in a chilled glass. That beer is best served cool-to-room-temp. The next time I had it I enjoyed it. But at 12% it's got a good alcohol taste to it.

Had some terrapin monks revenge and mystery langhorne at bottle revolution tonight. Monk was great, langhorne was good but it took a minute to get used to it, its a Belgian wit that uses rye.

New to the beer scene, but enjoying the opportunities to sample when I can. Thought both beers to be pretty average. Had higher expectations for the Ninja Porter, but was disappointed.

yall don't get deschutes, right? the obsidian stout and black butte porter are quickly becoming a favorite for the daily drinker category. great value at $7/6pack.

last night i had a terrapin hopzilla (trade extra)... smelled awesome, if you're into the more citrusy hops. taste was slightly disappointing compared to the smell, but the high alcohol content was hidden excellently. worked great for a poolside beer with a book.

then a few karbach weisse versas. local heff/wit combo that's pretty refreshing.

I have a bigger trade (for me) going out today. a little worried about shipping in this heat, but we'll see.

I'm sending out:
4 boulevard love child #2
1 boulevard saison brett 2011
1 boulevard rye on rye 12
1 jester king black metal
extras

getting:
3 cascade sang noir
1 goose island juliet
1 goose island lolita
2 russian river consecration
2 russian river supplication
1 russian river temptation
extras

for extras im gong to send bombers of clown shoes blaecorn unidragon, clown shoes vampire slayer, left hand smoke jumper, and some locals. i feel like i'm making out well on the trade, so wanted to send a few nicer 22s of good stuff out of his distro area (CA).

I've probably made about 20 trades in the last 6 months and I think I'm about to a point where I've had/got most of the stuff I've wanted to try that don't distribute in my area, I have a list of about 15-20 beers still, but it slows down over time unless you're always trading for Heady Topper or something that you drink a lot of that you can't get.

some of the more interesting things from the "wedding gift homebrew kegerator unveiling/bottle share" from this weekend included:

-side by side of regular ruination and the 10th anni ruination. 10th anni hands down.
-2010 SN/DFH life and limb (the age did wonders on this)
-westbrook gose (very polarizing in our group. i loved it. the other guys in the bottle share did not, although they're mostly stout/porter fiends. my wife said it "smells like old piss" and made a very unhappy face when she tried it. but, what can you do.)
-bruery 4 calling birds (a bit too spiced for my liking, but others enjoyed it.)
-bear republic / stone / fat head's TBA (a confused beer. overly hoppy for the malt profile i thought. wasn't anyone's favorite)
-boulevard love child #2 (fucking fantastic to me. even the non-sour drinkers and a sour hater thought this was a really well thought out beer)
-new glarus cherry stout - came as an extra in a box that arrived during the sampling, i couldn't not open at least something from the box. i thought it was terrible. smelled like cherry skoal and tasted like it too.
-avery uncle jacob's stout - of the bigger beers of the afternoon, this one was my favorite. incredibly easy drinking for the high abv (~17.5%). jet black with big coffee/molassessy aroma and flavor. a bit sticky though
-schlafly reserve RIS ('08) - very good. unfortunately, was the last big beer had, and with these split 4 ways, some of them had kinda gotten onto me.

went from there to a surly bitter brewer's homebrew clone (which i've made a few times now and it's damn good) and an assortment of karbach's offerings, of which i prefer the weisse versa (wit/hef blend) and the hopadillo.

drinking these types of beers on a hot summer afternoon was probably not the best of ideas. but it was fun.

Pretty damn good - smells just like Creme Brulee but tastes more balanced. Definitely on teh sweet side, so splitting a bomber was perfect as opposed to taking the whole thing down solo.

May have been mentioned but the Big Boss Big Operator is pretty tasty as well.

a guy i "know" through a facebook beer group is making a mule run to hill farmstead's bottle release next weekend, and to the alchemist for some fresh heady topper.

going to get some heady, growlers of everett, double citra, society and solitude #4: imperial IPA, maybe a jimmy.

i haven't had any HF or HT yet, and have a big ole beer boner over this transaction.

^^nice, I too haven't had any Hill Farmstead stuff yet though it's high on my list.

Heady Topper is good, but IMHO doesn't have the balance that other DIPAs have particularly Pliny the Elder.

What a cool trade, wish I "knew" somebody willing to mule to Vermont from CO

Two more I tried.

Red Oak is one of my favorites. Will probably become my favored daily drinker, unless something else comes by to knock it off my top spot.

Enjoyed the Dortmunder, would buy again if the beer list lacks variety. If there's something there I haven't tried though, I'd probably pass on the Dortmunder.

quick video of the bottle party i attended yesterday. easiest way to capture all the empties.

had some great things from all over, including a 3 year Stone RIS verticle, quite a few selections from Boulevard's smokehouse series, a few delicious sours and a visit from Pliny and 120 Minute as well.

I just see two Saison-Bretts, did you have any of the other Smokestack series?

Hmm, i'm pretty sure there was one other, not sure what happened to the bottle. i'll have to go back through my Untappd log to see.

Honestly I, along with most of the group, was disappointed with the Gratitude. Whoever brought it left the $27 price tag on the bottle which may have added to the negative feelings. It honestly tasted like a run of the mill barleywine. I enjoyed their Eye Opener coffee porter much more.

Strange Ghost was delicious as well. It was actually my first ever beer from Fantome and really liked it. It was opened up right after a run of several porters and stouts and without knowing much about it I wasn't expecting the tons of flavors it contained. It's peaked my interest in Fantome definitely.

Ghost Face Killah...ahh that beer. I'll tell you I liked it, but hated that it was opened so early. It somewhat wrecked my palate for a little while. I think a taster amount was plenty and i'm a sucker for spicy food. It was great to see people's immediate reactions and like you said it was either love or hate

One of the bottles I brought was a Westbrook Lichtinheiner which was their smoked sour wheat they released this spring and it was a crowd favorite. Several people related it to Yazoo Fortuitous if you are familiar. delicious smoke nose, sour on the mouth, and finished biscuity. Hoping they'll brew it again soon, my mistake was buying one bottle.
