I'm not expecting that for quite a long time as they basically have said just that and explained with pretty good reason. Eventually that would be nice but it will be several years before something like that is available I'm sure.

Anyways, if you have some sort of cable or satellite package, the show is definitely worth subscribing to HBO for. Most places pro-rate so we paid for 2 months and 3 days last season which came out to something like $30 with Dish. Well worth it even if you watch nothing else on HBO the entire time.

If you don't have a cable or satellite package and that's why you were looking for HBO Go, I hope you at least pick up the DVDs or Blu-rays when they come out even if you torrent the episodes when they are on live. The entire second season Blu-ray set with extra scenes and some really cool special features is $30 on Amazon. Either avenue is dirt-cheap for the entertainment you're getting and not having HBO Go isn't really an excuse for not supporting the show monetarily in some way.

Yeah, don't worry, I bought all the books, and I had HBO for both season 1 and season 2. I don't have it now. I don't even have a cable box, so I'm not thrilled about the idea of increasing how much I pay a shitty cable provider to get a DVR I don't want so I can get digital cable I don't want so that I can get a pay network I only kind of want so that I can watch one show I do want.

I'm thrilled that cable is getting closer and closer to being ala carte with things like Hulu (which I pay for) and a lot of the online content, but until then I'm not supporting government aided cable monopolies.

^^Definitely can't fault you there. As soon as GoT is over, we are canceling dish

We got a really good 2yr deal and it has been nice to have some State games available without always having to go out, but the promo rate is done in April so the box is going back as soon as this season is over. It's been nice for 3 seasons of GoT though.

I'll be thrilled when some day I can have internet only and still be able to watch the content I want.

In a perfect world I'd have decent broadband internet for $30-50/month and then buy stuff directly from content providers. The $8/month for Hulu, however much netflix is, being able to pay for say... all of ESPN's content by buying an ESPN package for $5-10/month, and then buying say, HBO for $10-15/month would be great.

PS - Just bought a Roku box, love it so far.

^^Yea but with all these individual subscriptions, I feel like we're being nickled and dimed to death. How bout one portal, where I pay like $60 per month, to get access to Hulu Plus, Netflix, Amazon Prime, ESPN, HBO, etc. It would probably end up being more than 60, but just one bill. Why do I need 5 different debits to the bank acct just to watch tv.

Sure, that's fine if you can convince all those companies to work together. If you start packaging stuff together you end up with the problem you have now which is being forced to pay for a bunch of shit you don't want.

Honestly, the more subscribers you get for a service like Hulu the more they'll be able to get from content providers and the more variety you'll have.

Actually, no they get about $5-6 per subscriber on their deal with Dish, which is more than they get from any cable company. By the end of this decade it'll be about $8-10 per subscriber for TWC, but right now it's closer to $4-5.

Just a word of warning for people reading the book after they watch the series, it does appear from the trailer that they'll be threading in plot lines that aren't really revealed until the 5th book into this season. Not a huge deal, but it will ruin the shock of the reveal when you get to ADWD.

There's a lot of concurrent plot lines as well as a lot of people and places to introduce very soon. I can only hope that they end the season with the big plot point from book #3. I hope they don't cram too much stuff in there this season.

Two big plot points in book 3, and both of them happen around the same time. But I know which one you are thinking about.

I dunno if it's too much to ask that we get both of them in one season. They could add some of the stuff that happens in book 3 and combine it with book 4, since it was shorter, and make another season.

There's only one plot line you could be talking about here and I watched it over a few times and didn't see anything referring to it. Could you PM what part of the trailer you mean?

It does. Can't wait for this season. Unfortunately, I'll be watching slightly delayed this season since I will be out of town and don't want to stream HBO Go on my laptop. I just plan to DVR them and catch up on the weekends I am in town.

I've already read the books so luckily it wasn't a spoiler for me. If I hadn't though, I'd be pretty pissed that someone posted that. I don't see what people don't understand about "don't post spoilers from the book in this thread".

I think the comment was "I can't wait to see what [character] looks like" and even had SPOILER above it. which i was confused about, because i don't see how that's a spoiler, maybe something had already been edited when i saw it.

Great recap that a friend of mind did on Season 1 and 2 focusing on the Targaryans and their history. Any fans of the show who haven't read the books should watch this to learn more about the history of everything that happened prior to Season 1. She'll be releasing similar recaps with emphasis on House Lannister, Stark, and Baratheon in the near future.

Additional note: There are no spoilers contained in the video, it only covers stuff that already happened in the first two seasons and stuff leading up to the first episode (Backstory of how Baratheon came to power, why Jaime is called the kingslayer, etc.)

DVR set. Can't believe it was already 4 years ago that I was pumped when they landed Peter Dinklage as Tyrion for the pilot they were filming

This will be the first episode I haven't watched live I think

Why did your friend fuck up her hair like that??

And I'm going to have to do some kind of review on the show. I read all the books this past summer and I think I have everything all fucked up.

Awesome how I posted the video to help people get caught up and most people just commented on her hair. For the record, I did actually used to date her (Back in 2009) but she ended up moving before anything serious developed.
