For the longest time i thought this team had to put up with this bullshit because we wouldn't go anywhere without CJ playing well.

That was true last year but I'm not sure it is this year. Howell has stepped up and Warren can replace the scoring. But we really don't have anyone to fill the void at his position. Ideally we'd have a back up big who was just a defense/rebounding guy. A Julian Gamble type. Painter wouldve worked if the guy actually wanted to make money professionally (in Europe) instead of just wanting to take low % jumpers and not play defense for a 2 win team.

Yep, that's right. Statistically he is an AVERAGE offensive basketball player on the season now. Unbelievable how inefficient he's been lately.

Purvis has slipped all the way to a dreadful 96.5 offensive rating. And he's been the beneficiary of a lot of transition baskets. Have to believe he'd be in the 80's in the halfcourt. That's freaking terrible. He's closer to a rotation player in the MAC right now than the ACC.

The maddening thing about Purvis is how many lay-ups he misses. I keep thinking he should just dunk a lot them but maybe that's easier said than done. He's so quick but there still seems to be a large gap between his athletic abilities and basketball abilities.

Leslie showed zero concentration and effort out there yesterday. There was a point where he threw away 2 or 3 passes in a row and it was just like... WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING.

Purvis has the tools but he's too erratic. If he would just calm down and hold his composure as he goes up he could be so much better.

Neither of these guys will be as good as Howell in the NBA though.

^good article. I really think its more complicated than just effort. It always makes me really uncomfortable to criticize a college or pro player's effort, you need to be standing on the court/field next to them to make that judgement, IMO.

Things are getting bad when I yell "PASS IT" immediately whenever CJL gets the ball in the post and starts his dribble/travel. I don't even do that for Vandy.

The apology, coupled with questions about his health (no idea about their truth) make me hope he can get his head on straight and come on really strong at the end of the year. If he blows up the ACC tourney then I think we will forget these bumps in the road pretty quickly.
