Look wraith. I said I learned something and I said she had nice tits. I mean. She has a bright pink crazy haircut. How the fuck are we not supposed to mention it??

I'd like to have a few drinks with her. She's rare. A hot chick that's funny and looks good with tats and crazy hair. Not too many girls can pull that off.

Is this show any good? I have never watched it? Is it better than Mad Men at its prime?

the book is in sections by geography so i think i'll do a different area each week. starting with the wall!

Uhh.. no it isn't? Books 4 and 5 are sections of geography covering nearly the same time period with south/west and east/north. But they still adhere to the same standard of each chapter being a character with plenty of location jumping.

I would expect each episode to cover 5-6 characters just as the show has been doing to this point. And once they start with books 4-5 content I would expect them to just follow the timeline for the most part.

The dragon scene was awesome, meeting the king beyond the wall was fun, and Tywin's speech to Tyrion was devastating. I was disappointed with the lack of Arya especially since they played up her and the faceless man in the previously on segment.

The scene with the Unsullied was about as dissapointing as anything so far to me. Very underwhelming. And why bother changing the puppies thing to babies. Having to kill a companion is much more devastating that killing some newborn while under the protection of your master more or less.

^^i have no idea what you are talking about (and dont want to, another thread for that) but any human that would kill a newborn before a dog has their shit all fucked up.

not a great premiere imo, but it had its moments. i liked the scene where jon is introduced to mance rayder and both of tyrion's scenes.

disappointed that they cut out the arstan whitebeard plotline entirely, but i absolutely understand why and am glad barristan selmy is back.

I wonder if by page 100 we will finally get people not comparing every scene to the books?

Was great to me, who is still unspoiled somehow.

yeah, i'm going to bring this up again that this thread is strictly for the show. If you want to gripe or compare and contrast with the book please do it in the thread linked a few posts above.

I will dump posts that lead this thread off it's intended path

I'm still confused on who the people are beyond the wall...wildlings?? Can someone give a brief description of who they are and their purpose..

I assume they are people who are rebels and wanted to form their own clique

^i started a response, but just read this
http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Wildlings

Quote :
"The Free Folk are a race of people who live beyond the Wall. They are more commonly referred to as "wildlings" everywhere south of the Wall.
There are tens, possibly hundreds of thousands of Free Folk split into hundreds of cultures, tribes, clans, villages and raiding parties, some reasonably cultured, others savage and hostile. The Free Folk refer to themselves in that way to difference themselves from the "kneelers," the people south of the Wall, subject to lords and kings. The Free Folk view the "kneelers" as lacking freedom, whereas the people of the Seven Kingdoms view the "wildlings" as lawless and primitive killers, rapists and thieves."

Kind of a weak season opener, but there was a lot of stuff to cover. Probably would have been better as a 2 hour season premiere, could have gotten more into Dany in Astapor or more of Mance Rayder (love the casting on that one btw).

that's opinion not based solely on the show, it has to go in the comparisons thread:
http://www.brentroad.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=635904

to be safe, just use it for any discussion related to any part of game of thrones

uh...what?

i've only read the first 3 books...does tyrion become a court jester or join a midget-tossing act later in the series?

Dude, really, man USE SPOILER TAGS!

I don't think everyone wants to know about how Tywin sends Tyrion off to be a jester in the Iron Islands in the fifth book.
