Also, what do U.S. veterans think of Obama and McCain?
Quote : | "U.S. Sen Barak Obama, D-Ill, the Democratic presidential nominee, received a good grade, a "B," from the organization.
U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., the Republican presidential nominee received an unsatisfactory "D."
The IAVA said Obama voted five of nine times for legislation considered important to Irag and Afghanistan war veterans, and cosponsored the post-9/11 GI Bill.
McCain supported the same legislation three of nine times and did not add his name to sponsore the new GI Bill, the organization said.
In a press statement, Murray said she considered the IAVA to be a significant and effective advocate for today's veterans, and, as the daugher of a disabled World War II veteran, was honored by their recognition. " |

For everyone who said Obama basically cannot lose at this point (coughCNNcough)...
Latest Zogby Poll:
Quote : | "Obama has slim 2-point lead on McCain
By John Whitesides, Political Correspondent Wed Oct 8, 12:41 PM ET
NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has a slim 2-point lead on Republican rival John McCain in a tight White House race, according to a Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.
Obama led McCain by 47 percent to 45 percent in the national poll, within the margin of error of 2.8 percentage points. Obama led by 3 points in Tuesday's poll.
"This race is at equilibrium," pollster John Zogby said, adding neither candidate has been able to take full advantage of voter unhappiness with the country's direction." |
goes on to say it was taken on Tuesday before the debate, but so was the latest Gallup poll

Michelle Obama has repeatedly (on Larry King, on The Daily Show) said Barack Obama has a tremendous respect for McCain
How come you Obama supporters don't respect McCain? ] 10/9/2008 1:27:57 AM |

^i respect mccain, but i think he's grasping for straws in this election. all of these moves are really just trick plays to make up any lost ground, and as we get closer to the election, the moves get a little dirtier. and honestly, i think this tactic is being forced on mccain. i don't think he feels comfortable going for these personal attacks (which i think is evident on how he didn't mention wright or ayers or even obama's middle name in the debate). buuut, he's still okay with letting his campaign do the dirty work. now, if mccain doesn't resort to these dirty attacks in the last debate or throughout the campaign on the stump, then i'll still have some of the respect (and admiration) for mccain that i had 8 years ago, and this will really all amount to nothing more than politics as usual.
palin is another story, i can't stand her, and her brash decisiveness scares me. choosing her as a vp given mccain's age makes me question if his motive to win the election is greater than his desire to put "country first"
just my two cents.

palin was chosen to get women hillary voters who were on the fence .. and theres alot of them .. she is just getting so much attention and shes on the vp.
i do believe she has improved alot in her public interviews and appearances 10/9/2008 3:18:22 AM |
mls09 All American 1515 Posts user info edit post |
^which appearances?
i mean, the mccain camp has actually done a remarkable job of keeping her in the shadows. to the point where it probably has hurt her public image. she literally repeated her speech from the RNC for like a month before doing an actual interview. it was then when the wheels started to fall off for her popularity. and this is just pure speculation, but any "hillary" voter who still likes palin is probably a voter that can't be relied on and probably won't show up on election day.
V by no means am i counting him out. i'm just saying, that independent feminists are steadily showing more support for an obama/biden ticket every time a roe-v-wade conversation comes out of palin's mouth.

the hillary voter is part of a demographic who is mostly women, independent, and would vote democrat only if she was on the ticket
they quickly supported her in large numbers at first, but now they are hesitant. because she did struggle in those first public appearances .
its not a fluke that 83% of undecided voters believe mccains ready to lead, but hasnt done enough to gain their support .. yet
dont count mccain out by any means, there are so many factors that could change public opinion drastically and theres plenty of time 10/9/2008 3:30:09 AM |

A graph from a left-wing blogger...OK.
The last time the democrats had a 60 senator bullit-proof majority was 1977. With Jimmy Carter and his democrat pals in complete power, we ended up with double-digit inflation and the misery index. Unable to face the facts of his failed presidency, he ended up basically blaming the American public for the economy's failure.
But you may look forward to Gridlock being pushed aside. The floodgates of gov't will open wide, letting democrat legislation flow freely.10/9/2008 11:28:52 AM |

Do you think they're just telling that because its interesting? It's fearmongering by association. What do people associate with the word terrorist? Islamic terrorists. They also probably think Obama is a secret muslim. So they put two and two together. Or they think that since he has connections to Ayers that Obama is a terrorist, which is guilt by association.
Its a despicable tactic.10/9/2008 1:22:33 PM |
