Man I hate both of those signings particularly olsen. Way too much money for an aging injury prone te. He will age like milk and he wasn't even a free agent. Oher sucks

The Charlotte Observer reports the Panthers will sign KR/WR Ted Ginn. Cut by Arizona last month, Ginn was free to sign immediately. Ginn spent the 2013 season in Carolina, logging 36 catches and a career-high five touchdowns while showing some deep-ball chemistry with Cam Newton. He'll replace Philly Brown as the Panthers' new primary kick returner and will fill a situational deep-threat role. He may even have to serve as Newton's No. 3 wideout. " |

Hardy's contract is interesting.
Base Salary is <$1 million. Rest is all incentive-based, so if he misses a bunch of games he gets less money, etc. 3/18/2015 7:11:21 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148439 Posts user info edit post |
And if he meets all of his incentives (some related to # of sacks, etc, but many just on how many games he plays), he gets $13.1 million. The exact same amount as the Panthers paid him last year to play 1 game. 3/18/2015 8:20:03 PM |

Oher and J. Martin.... pretty decent FA pickups for OL... Def gives us some depth. Now, how many do we draft and what rounds? Yes, that is a loaded and situation-al question.

Signing those guys probably means Getts is looking at other positions in the draft, at least for the early rounds. You don't take the baggage that comes along with those names just for training camp fodder. Or he's just trying to take need out of the equation so we don't reach for a tackle over BPA. 3/30/2015 4:24:37 PM |
LudaChris All American 7946 Posts user info edit post |
^That last part is exactly what he's doing.
Before FA started we had 2 glaring needs, OT and WR. We picked up 2 of each, all pretty cheap.
Now we can truly draft BPA each round of the draft without having to reach for any position. It's a great move, but unlikely that we don't still take OT in the first round. Basically covering ourselves if there is a run on OT in the first round before we pick. 3/30/2015 8:28:45 PM |
Maverick1024 All American 4866 Posts user info edit post |
I'd say safety is a need also. Boston showed flashes last year but also seems injury prone. Harper flipped between adequate and awful all season. I know we signed Coleman, but he just seems like decent depth and special teams material -- not a starter.
The draft seems thin on safeties, but maybe Landon Collins falls to us. 3/31/2015 1:59:09 PM |
LudaChris All American 7946 Posts user info edit post |
I just don't think safety is a huge position for us with our defensive scheme. I'd still be surprised if we didn't go OL/WR in the first round and RB somewhere in the first 3-4 rounds. 3/31/2015 2:02:02 PM |
justinh524 Sprots Talk Mod 27837 Posts user info edit post |
Don't draft for need. Pick the best player available.
If Gurley is still on the board when the panthers pick, they should take him. He's the best RB to come out in a long time, ACL be damned. 3/31/2015 2:43:46 PM |
BiggzsIII All American 5016 Posts user info edit post |
Ok, so everyone so far is thinking along the same lines. We have picked up guys for depth to make sure we are able to get BPA... I can go with that. Hopefully it kicks off good competition too.

1 torn ACL doesn't make somebody injury prone.
