this is a <1 minute drive from our beach cottage.
The name of this place always bugged me, it's spelled "Ocean-ANA" but everyone pronounces it like "Oceana"/oshee-anna6/1/2008 3:55:42 AM |

I use Adobe CS3 for image processing.
Just finished up processing, editing and publishing almost 400 pictures of a hooters swimsuit contest down in Atlanta, GA.

^^^, ^^^^ thanks!
this \/ is my first real attempt at messing with saturation and such in photoshop, I really have no idea what I'm doing, although I can do the cool "one thing in color and everything else BW" thing I wish I got the DOF better on this one...
and this is what Picasa is doing to my RAW files

And yes, composition is a bit off. The camera back focused a little bit since it was dark as hell even with their hot lamps, but the subjects are fine.

So if you're using photoshop already, what are you using picasa for? Not sure why its turning the RAW files pink though, never had that happen.
I typically use canon's DPP along with gimp.6/1/2008 11:47:14 PM |

i'm just using picasa to get the photos from the card and into an online album.

Straight forward and simple to use. I don't have any sort of photoshop software currently, so that's probably why I'm still using it. But I do think its a handy tool to start the process. 6/2/2008 12:37:29 AM |

yeah, even with older digital SLR's, they aren't in the 300 range, maybe like a 10D, but most people who have them have converted them to IR camera's...
However, you can get some film SLR's for cheap. 6/2/2008 10:24:11 PM |
PhotogRob All American 2009 Posts user info edit post |
I'd guess an original Digital Rebel goes for less than a 10D. That's probably the cheapest Canon you'll get.
Here's a good price on a Nikon D40, if it's real:

ok so i've been messing around a bunch with the new glass and trying to learn what the settings can do
this is with the 50 f/1.4 at f/1.4 and 1/8 shutter speed with only the light from the hallway, no direct light from the room we were in... I was blown away when I put the stop at f/1.8 and took the same shot with the same shutter speed and at a slower speed.. this lens is amazing.
these were while I was playing around outside...
none have been cropped or retouched in any way. larger res are on my flickr: http://flickr.com/photos/shevais
