it's $40 a jug at Vitamin Shoppe, and the other sites offer 10% off coupons at every major forum. Apparently you don't know the prices as well as you claim you do. 10/22/2008 10:48:46 PM |

^ I'm saying I don't have enough money to buy in bulk, but I am well versed in consumer math.
http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/opt/whey.html $41.99 for 5lbs + shipping dude, come on....
http://www.dpsnutrition.net/get_item_on342.htm $39.99 for 5lbs + shipping . . . .
Certainly you can get a 10% off coupon or whatever, but you still have to pay for shipping and wait for it. If you want to go buy it locally, you can get it IN STORE at Vitamin Shoppe for $38, thats all I was saying.
Yes I workout at PF.

even if you get it for $38 a bucket with your special discount, that's not as good as the $34 a tub you can get it for at bodybuilding.com with a 10% off coupon. If your order is big enough, you can get free shipping sometimes too.
unfortunately, not everyone gets your discount at vitamin shoppe, and you still have to pay sales tax. 10/22/2008 11:02:45 PM |

Maybe this has already been answered in this thread but i dont have time to read 57 pages:
I seem to remember from health and wellness class that when you weight train, you should do the exercises that use the biggest muscles first (i.e. bench press) and then move on during your workout to exercises that use smaller muscle groups. Is that true? also how important is consistency in which machines or free weight exercises you do from workout to workout? 10/22/2008 11:34:51 PM |

cf warmup, an oly bar weight only warmup
Squat cleans push presses High Pulls Front squats weighted dips rollouts w/ a dime plate, and and the fubar reminants of a barbell.
Bench uses the "biggest" muscles first....Interesting....
Yes, do compound excersizes first. I'm not sure what you are trying to ask in the second question. But, I'd say, don't use machines.

^ in the second question, i meant does it matter if one day, for example i work my triceps with free weights and another day on the tricep extension machine?
i know its good to switch up exercises, but how important is consistency in your routine 10/23/2008 12:15:16 AM |

I'm assuming you are doing a whole-body workout (legs too, right? =) ).... you can and should use different machines and equipment for working the same muscle groups. Consistency, in that you repeat the same exact exercises every time, is not important and would hinder you from working the muscle from different angles. Machines in general, although convenient, are not really the best way to get a workout. Try some variety with free weights and cable exercises.10/23/2008 7:06:19 AM |

^^ never punish yourself. Instead, run 2 miles and 'reward yourself' with a pumpkin beer. life's more fun that way
Yesterday was triceps day
warmup: 1mi run, 7:58 (that's a new record for me wooot!!!)
4 sets: 10 reps skullcrushers with barbell followed immediately by 15reps benchpress with my wrists close to focus on tris, 30lbs, 40lbs, 50lbsx2 then 12 reps skullcrushers using dumbbells 8lbs, 10lbs, 12lbsx2
i wish i knew the names of some of the workouts I did....maybe I could MSpaint them that would be easier to see for you
then I did combos of the pull down cables, a bunch of those
then I did some more cables combod with dips
then I did the tricep press thingy a bunch of times
then it was a 20minute fast walk, 4.4speed with 4.0incline 10/23/2008 11:18:13 AM |

At first I thought I was like "An 8 minute mile?! That's nothing." but if you personal bests are getting faster and faster then that has to be commended. Good job.
Are skullcrushers another name for nosebreakers? i.e. You lay on your back on the bench and hold a weight over your face and do your extensions?10/23/2008 11:22:51 AM |
dharney All American 4445 Posts user info edit post |
8min mile isn't that fast i know but for me I've never been able to do something like that. Being fat and combo that with really lazy never did well in the exercise part
when I first started running this summer, I was putting in about an 11minute mile, so that's a good 3min i've shaved off my time in a few months
skullcrushers
lay flat on your back on the bench, kick one leg up to balance yourself, grab the barbell palms facing towards your head, arms stretched out, then slowly bring the barbell to just above your head and then back up to the top. It's for triceps.....so yea maybe it's the same thing, idk. I didn't invent the word 10/23/2008 11:37:43 AM |

No, I gave people a price they can get locally.... what the heck is your beef? I'm just trying to be helpful and give people good advice and your trampling all over me on whey protein prices. I'm not going to give people a price they can't get or need a special discount or friend to obtain. Vitamin Shoppe in store matches their online prices for everyone -- so for the last time, stop arguing with me over this.10/23/2008 12:15:55 PM |

Is it bad to have just a triceps day?
I have a personal trainer and yesterday we worked mainly on tri's. That's totally cool and all, but a friend told me that it was retarded to do that cause it's a minor muscle group and there's no point.
The only reason I can think of is that in the limited time of training I have, we can only do so much, so we schedule chest one session and tri's the next, but we don't usually have them together. 10/23/2008 10:07:33 PM |

Also,
4.67mi run, 800 calories burned. I really like hitting 800 calories on the treadmill, because that's a decent meal there so I know I've burned off something good. I try to keep myself in the fat burning zone so this usually takes me around 45-55 minutes to complete. 10/23/2008 10:08:48 PM |

your triceps day will also be a minor chest day, its no waste, I don't believe tris are a minor muscle group, there are 3 pretty big muscles and they'll turn out bigger than your biceps if focused...I keep my triceps only day as far away from my chest day as possible, same goes for my back and biceps days...both will work the other, so I try to maximize downtime between them
that being said, it is my triceps day today! fun fun 10/24/2008 6:38:46 AM |

triceps by themselves might be okay, but it depends on how much you are doing for them. If you're hitting them for 45 minutes nonstop, then you're probably just going to overtrain them. hitting them twice a week with a limited number of sets isn't a bad idea, and you're giving them a workout on chest day anyway. 10/24/2008 1:01:14 PM |

i need to ask you and aaprior about routines....hate doing chest if my triceps or deltoids are sore, and squats/deadlifts fuck up my schedule sometimes too
also need to ask about the number of reps
and diet, cause i'm finding it hard to get more than like 130g of protein a day
