when he scored, he skated straight for three dudes who were pounding the glass in the corner and jumped into them with both fists.

it ruled.

Feel bad for Huet, he blocked everything in the 3rd period that they threw at him.....sucks he lost it on a goal from his own team.

Oh well, good for the Canes!

NBC would want to shoot themselves if they were showing this Bruins/Rangers game. It's been alright, but there's been no scoring and not as exciting as the Pens/Caps game.

Well, that was until Lundy started standing on his head.

gg former whalers

so, if all of our "favorite" sports teams were to play in a vastly inferior division, there would be a good chance that they would be given home ice and be all rested up and shit because they never had to play anyone of consequence?

Just admit it...you're jealous that you don't have a Conn Smythe goalie.

Three Cups and no Smythes, sheesh.

you're right. i do not own a goalie who has three con smyyyyyyyyythes. as a matter of fact, you don't own one either.

i do not refer to professionaly sports team as "mine." i do not play for them. i have no ownership of them, or of the players. if you had a controlling interest in the former hartford whalers, i could possibly see your undeniable jealousy with my spot on posts and your claim of ownership of wam chord.

i find it hard to identify with your emotional rants.

going to be at the Ottawa game at about 10am, cooking hot dogs and stuff in the parking lot and consuming many beers. Is anyone else thinking about tailgating for this one? Seems like there was some discussion at some point

New York at Buffalo today. These games are important too cause if we didn't win the South East we could at least be in the hunt for the 8th spot.

I am. Guess I will have to be there at 10 anyway to buy tickets, but I'm gonna have to look into that. Looks like most tickets are sold for the game; I might not risk waiting on the $10 seats.

Maximus,

stop calling the Canes the "former whalers." It's not impressive. Or, if you insist on calling them that, then please use this sheet as a guide for other teams:

Coyotes: former Jets
Avs: former Nordiques
Flames: well, they used to be in Atlanta
Stars: former North Stars
Ducks: former Mighty Ducks

I was going to wait, but screw it-it's only $10 more to get them now. I got my tickets 2 weeks ago. I don't want to risk the game selling out. I've had issues with the RBC Center on weekends about what time the box office actually opens. The doors say closed Sunday, but the website says "Day of game/Open at least three hours prior to event." WTF-that could be 10 am, 11am, 12pm.

The Rockies' slogan literally was "Come to the fights and watch a Rockies game break out!" I'm not talking some unofficial THESE IS THE TIMES thing here; this was actually printed in ads and billboards by the team. (Don Cherry was the coach ).

Devils' slogan should be "Come to the trap and watch a hockey game break out!"

I have 2 tickets for the 3/25 College night game vs Washington but can't go because I have to work. Lower level 129R seats 11,12. If you have extra tickets to the march 17th Ottawa game I am willing to trade based on your seats.

Revised my off-season projections from a couple of months ago. My RFA/UFA re-signs might be a little light in number and figures, but the cap situation looks favorable for us to do what we need to do.

I assumed that Hamilton and Tanabe won't be playing for the big club, and that we don't go for Stillman with all the forward depth we have now. I don't know if we still go for Leighton next year, just a weird feeling I have had lately. This leaves us about 7 million under the cap, with room to sign a 2-3 million dollar guy and stay under our 'self-imposed cap-cushion' of previous years.

Staal - 4.5
Cole - 4.0
Brind'Amour 3.6
Whitney 3.55
Williams 3.5
Cullen - 2.875
Walker - 2.5
Hamilton 0.8

Corvo - 2.625
Kaberle - 2.2
Wallin - 1.725
Borer - 0.512
Tanabe - 0.75

Ward - 2.667

========================

Total Committed 34.254

Cap Space: ~19 mil

05-06 Cap: 39 mil
06-07 Cap: 44 mil
07-08 Cap: 50.3 mil
08-09 Cap: ~53 mil

Projections:

I still don't believe you can go into camp with one of those forwards on the 4th line. That's a pretty pathetic defensive core, too; I don't think we are going to have much choice but to shop a forward for a defenseman. We could get a great return for someone like... Cole.

^Yeah, thats what I really see happening. Cole or some package of similar value for a ready-to-go top 4 NHL Dman and maybe a D prospect. It sucks, but our forward depth is one of those things where it is a good problem to have. I'd hate to see us lose the Walker and the Rats line, but I am pretty sure we won't see Bayda or Aucoin back next year, as someone will offer them a roster spot.

"RALEIGH - The Carolina Hurricanes don't expect defenseman David Tanabe, who has been out since December with a concussion, to play again this NHL season. Whether he ever plays for them again is very much in doubt.

Tanabe hasn't been on the ice for two months and wasn't even at the RBC Center for the team picture last week. The Canes may even be forced to consider buying out the final year of his contract this summer."

Gotta add:

NY Islanders @ Florida

Florida worries me, I know they wont beat us in our finale, because they dont win in the RBC, but if they can sneak by us at their place, just maybe. Also their finale will be against a possible lame-duck Washington team, so if they are still in it by then, could mean trouble.

so you're more worried about Florida than Washington?

I don't understand. We're up 7 points on both of them, and Washington has a game in hand. Washington added some decently valuable pieces at the deadline, whereas Florida...is pretty lame.

I don't know, it could happen. Florida's goalie (Craig Anderson? or something? the one who isn't Vokoun) has been pretty hot recently. But I think if we have to worry about either of them, Washington would be the one to worry about.
