Better stat would be average time to second foul and average time until fourth foul. I don't think they keep those but it'd be a better indicator than average fouls per game.

I'm trying to remember the last time I saw some low-down-dirty-unsportsmanlike-shit like this take place in college football and nothing comes to mind. That might just be the dirtiest thing I have ever seen in ~20 years of watching ACC football.

I'm not going to go all conspiracy theory and suggest that he was trying to injure the guy or that the coaches told him to do it. I'm sure it's just one player being an ass. A lot of players feel the need to make a statement like that during games. A 'tough guy' contest, or whatever. This seems to be particularly common with linebackers after they make a solo tackle. Usually it's just smacktalk or a finger pointed at the face or whatever, but this was just totally unnecessary. Not sure it justifies a suspension or not, but def should have been flagged during the game.
