"McAdoo told CNN he had expressed interest in studying criminal justice, but was told on his first day of scheduling that he had to pick from three majors that fit his football schedule -- Exercise and Sport Science, Communications, and African-American Studies, where the paper class scandal existed. McAdoo said his pre-determined schedule included some of the paper classes."

Quote :
"McAdoo's lawsuit could potentially uncover even more than the damning Wainstein investigation, which was by far the most thorough and provided a slew of information that had previously been discounted by UNC.

The difference is in the power of subpoena.

McAdoo's lawyers will be able to depose people who declined to talk to Wainstein -- potentially key participants whom Wainstein called out for refusing to cooperate, like the former director of football Cynthia Reynolds and the former interim head football coach Everett Withers."

Hopefully he's not using the same lawyers as last time though. The ones who didn't even check to see that his bullshit paper was plagiarized from many sources.

I believe that paper was one of the sham class "recycled" papers though.

One they gave to paper class students on the regular.

More criticism in the Charlotte Post this morning about why the sole focus on AFAM despite athletes majoring in other departments.

"In the 18 years of paper classes, men’s basketball players accounted for 363 enrollments, an average of 20 enrollments per year.

The football team accounted for 1,377 enrollments during that period, but the football team has roughly nine times the number of athletes.
"

consolidates a lot of information.

Probably the three departments that had programs in place to keep athletes eligible.

http://www.newsobserver.com/2014/11/08/4305374_2005-unc-basketball-champs-2-semesters.html?sp=/99/100/&rh=1

Is by far the best place to read about the summary of what is going on involving the basketball team if you don't want to sort through this thread.

Quote :
"During the season that the UNC men’s basketball team made its run to the 2005 NCAA championship, its players accounted for 35 enrollments in classes that didn’t meet and yielded easy, high grades awarded by the architect of the university’s academic scandal."

Also about what I said regarding McCants:

Quote :
"One of the basketball players, Rashad McCants, had previously told ESPN he took nothing but paper classes in the spring 2005 semester. His transcript showed he was in three independent studies plus one lecture class that had no instruction. He received straight A-minuses, making the DEAN'S LIST."

I want them to say this in a Grand Jury environment. I love how everyone is constantly trying to shield Roy no matter what.

Quote :
"The Wainstein documents also reveal a friendly relationship between Crowder and Wayne Walden, coach Roy Williams’ hand-picked academic counselor for the basketball team.

They show the two working together to get players into the classes and Walden providing tickets and other team freebies to Crowder.

Walden told investigators he was aware that Crowder was grading the papers, but he said he can’t recall telling Williams."

Well I can't recall a lot of things when am first asked, but give me some time and I will remember most of the time if it is important...

Quote :
"In the 18 years of paper classes, men’s basketball players accounted for 363 enrollments, an average of 20 enrollments per year."

Quote :
"the 2005 team alone had 10 of 15 players with that major"

since the day the report came out, i've repeatedly said that basketball players took far more fake classes per scholarship than football...one the order of 53% more. glad dan kane is putting that in print

I really hope they drop the hammer right before the NCAA tournament. Allow UNC to have a monkey breathing down their neck all season and then make an example of them right as the tournament kicks off so that the entire country gets to hear the narrative.

so the State Fans Nation article yesterday ended with

Quote :

What does that mean? Did I miss something - like, is the NCAA supposed to announce something Friday?

well i'll be. look what's on the front page of my reddit feed: http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/11/09/report-unc-took-26-bogus-classes-during-2005-spring-semester-national-title-run/

the article is sloppy as all hell, but i ain't mad at him.

Quote :
"On average, during the 18 years that the paper classes were being offered at UNC, the basketball team averaged 20 enrollments per year."

i haven't seen it put quite like that before... that's really a lot to average over that long of a span of time.

i wonder how much money is being thrown at matt doherty to not talk if he gets subpoenaed. dude is still right of mind and has nothing to lose relative to roy.

when he's found dead in the front seat of his car from a heroin overdose, don't believe it.

y'all remember when some UNC fan made a fake NCAA news website just to blow smoke around this when it first cropped up? that may have been the first place the "over by friday" thing started.

I thought it was the IC mods (Greg Barnes I think)...that made the famous "this will all be over by Friday" comment back during the week of the LSU game. They said just a few players will be suspended for one game and maybe one or two players (Austin and Little) would be suspended for more games...but that it and that "it will all be over by Friday".

lulz

I like the one about the girl taking a test for a football player and then they all rain the train on her.

Jennifer Wiley anybody??

^ Tydreke Powell. I think he was a pretty solid defensive tackle for them.
