I really think this thread has progressed past the point of posting hands where AA lost.

Sorry, just pissed me off in the way that AA lost. Would it make it better if I ask what I did wrong, or how you would've played the hand?

called my preflop raises aswell. fished the flush even after i slightly overbet the pot each time to try and ruin flushdraw odds.

so im thinking of playing in the 20+2 deep stacks pot limit omaha tournament tonight

5000 starting chips, 30 minute blind levels, start at 10/20 like normal poker stars tournaments.

the only thing is, i dont know if i want to commit 10+ hours to it

i really am going to have to open up an account on that site, pp has no omaha tournaments, you are talking straight high right, not split?

there are daily 10+1, 20+2, 30+3, and 100+9 with the occasional 200+10 plo hi tournaments on stars

the 20+2 deep stack today is plo hi.

and yes, they do have 7cs8 tournaments occasionally, but rarely over like $10+1

ive played a few of them, they are pretty nice.

if you can play a somewhat competent plo game, the 20+2 tournament is so soft its unbelievable, im over 80% in the money

and the tournament structure is much better than party, you start with 1500 chips for one thing

its like a $50 bonus for signup, then your pso promo also.

the software is probably the worst in the industry, esp after they bogged down themselves like crazy with a fuckton of freerolls.

dzags18 it's not that you played it wrong, it's just a mundane hand. AA gets cracked all the time, it's that simple. There was no way you were possibly going to win that hand because that guy was not folding at any point in the hand. You bet it right and he called you down and caught. It's the nature of limit poker, and sometimes no-limit. Honestly the only stupid call he made the whole time was the $2 call of your initial bet preflop. Look at it this way.

He is in the BB for $1 and decides to call $3 with a hand that is obviously an underdog to whatever people are raising with. This is stupid and a poor play over time.

The next call he makes is only for $1 preflop, which is the correct call at that point considering he is calling $1 to win $12.

After the flop he does the smart thing and bets his pair to see if it's good. He get's reraised, but only $1 more, so now he has to call $1 to win $16. At this point he might even think he has the best hand and you are betting up AK.

On the turn, he turns an inside straight draw. Not a huge improvement, but if he still thinks you have AK then he is definitely still ahead. Even if he is behind, unless you are wielding JJ then he has a shit ton of outs (7,9, or 10). So now he is calling $2 to win $20.

The river gives him 2 pair, and you are beat. Yes you bet it right, and yes he got lucky. I am sure the guy was an idiot, but his logic wasn't that far off from being correct. AA is not unbeatable, especially in limit poker where people chase like motherfuckers. It's the nature of the beast. You had no way of winning this hand.

^^ I know that, it just annoyed me, was just a stupid call on his part but what can you do.. I met up with him later and took most of my money back. I know AA will not always win, I hate playing it, especially in limit where its hard to see how strong it is. I got beat again later once when a guy stayed in with a gutshot straight draw (I think 10 high, he was holding the evil 7 9 again). I later drew AA again and got into a pot with the same guy, he had JJ and caught the J on the turn Oh well, nothing you can do, thats online poker for you.

^ I concur.

In other news Mike Matasow is no longer the biggest douchebag at the table. The honor belong to "The Sheik," who managed to:

1) Get into a pissing contest with Mike (lame)

2) Trash talk about Mike's awful calls, seeing as his plays were far worse. (very lame)

3) Trash Talk with the low stack (ultra lame)

Mike's got a big mouth and bigger ego, but he's playing 100 times better poker than most of these guys. The old maxim holds true: It ain't trash talking if you back it up.

I'm betting mike just uses it as a total mind game, and it completely got to shiek. He whispered something into shiek's ear when he lost, and I'm betting it was something positive. When you have that much control over someone's emotions, you can fuck with their game by making it personal.

Im beginning to feel like I have developed a new 6th sense.

I can visualize the card on my screen before it hits on the river.

The problem is

it only works when Im all in,

and I only seem to see the 1-3 cards in the deck that will bust me out of a tournament in huge pots.

not that it comes anywhere close to the same odds, but i played a house game about a year ago and my friend was dealt pocket kings 3 hands in a row. we shuffled between every hand and even rotated between 2 different decks. i'm pretty sure the odds of that are about 1:822,800

Here's an early decision I took my time on in a $10+1 tourney on PP:

Quote :

I bet the flop hard to both knock out flush draws and look like a steal. I bet again on the turn, 300 chips into a 480 chip pot. When limper called both bets I was concerned about a fledgling flush draw or an Ace with a bad kicker.

The Q and J on the turn in river meant a possible two pair, so I checked the river. He of course went all-in and sent me into the tank. Did he hit a set of 5s? Maybe even 9s? AJ seemed like a decent possibility, AQ less likekly, but hey its 10+1 and I'm used to seeing people limp with anything and everything.

His hesitation on the turn was my only clue. Either he was pondering a call, or setting a trap. Was the check on the river bad, and would you call?

bodog sit and go, knock the guy out on the 3rd hand of the 2nd level.

got some awesome breaks.

4 of a kind, after the guy was bluffin a set of 7s(I started with 72 suited and an unraised BB)
flopped 2 sets which turned into full houses(on shit hands by the way)

last hand I got dealt J2 off suit, called the guys small raise.

my chips: 1300
his: 700

flop: JJ9
he raises 60, I call
turn: 2
he bets 60, I call hoping for a reraise on river
river:4
he bets 120, i reraise another 120, he rerasies 120, I put him all-in, slightly worried that he has a better full house, but I can make up for it later if I lose.
he calls and flips em over, JQ....money in my pocket

I am not the best player in the world, but when you get dealt gifts like that, it makes up for getting bodogged in the normal tables.

ALMOST made the final table in the first WSOP Circuit Tourney at Paris/Bally's... $300 buy in, 476 players... got 12th Measly profit of $1,190 for 12th place after 12 hours of poker today. All the money is of course at the final table ($42k for 1st)... oh well... that was just the first in the series, and there are two more big series right after... I plan to have a BIG cash at a final table soon!

This is the problem with your game, Greg. Hands like 6-3off are GREAT for making small, hard to detect straights, and sometimes working their way into 2 pair or small boats! You also must remember that you have two altogether different flush draws with 6-3off, thus you hold half the key flush cards in the deck! There are so many hands that can be made with 6-3off, and once you, the amateur, realize this, and stop folding said hand, you will finally find that drastic improvement in your game.
